Extending Prohibition of Alienation of certain Native Land
other than Alienation in favour of the Crown.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-sixth
day of August, 1919.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
ON the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase
Board, referred to in section three hundred and sixty-
three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise of the
power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section,
His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of
New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby extend for a
further period of six months the Order in Council dated
the third day of September, one thousand nine hundred and
eighteen, and gazetted the fifth day of September, one thou-
sand nine hundred and eighteen, but only in so far as it
affects the Native lands specified in the Schedule hereto, pro-
hibiting all alienation other than alienation in favour of the
Crown.

Regulations under the Distillation Act, 1908.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-sixth
day of August, 1919.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority con-
ferred upon him by the Distillation Act, 1908, and of
all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf,
His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make
the following regulations.
REGULATIONS.
-
EVERY still for which a license has been issued under the
Distillation Act, 1908, and the premises upon which it is
situated, shall at all times be open to the inspection of an
Officer of Customs or other person deputed for that purpose
by an Inspector of Distilleries. -
The following provisions shall apply to stills licensed
under section 12 of the Distillation Act, 1908 :—
(a.) Every licensed still in the possession of the owner or
occupier of any vineyard shall be kept under the
Crown lock when not in use.
(b.) At least three days before the licensee intends to use
his still he shall give notice to the Collector of Cus-
toms of such intention, in the form numbered 1 of
the Schedule hereto, stating the particulars therein
required.
(c.) Any Officer of Distilleries, Officer of Customs, or Officer
of Police shall have power to take, without payment,
a sample not exceeding in quantity one quart of any
wine or lees of wine, or other liquor intended to be
distilled. He may also ascertain the exact quantity
of wine, lees of wine, or other liquor presented for
distillation.
(d.) After any distillation has been completed, any residues
or low wines containing spirit may, at the option of
the licensee, be either destroyed or retained for the
next operation, in which latter case the quantity
thereof shall be ascertained and the said residues or
low wines shall be placed under the Crown lock.
(e.) All spirits produced shall be kept in casks or other
containers approved by an Inspector of Distilleries.
Such casks or containers shall be numbered conse-
cutively, and each shall have legibly painted thereon
the name of the licensee and the words “Spirits for
fortifying Wine,” with figures representing the
number of gallons contained therein; also the date
of distillation.
(f.) Before any distillation is commenced the Officer shall
take an account of all wine, lees of wine, or other
liquor intended to be distilled, and after distillation
has taken place he shall take an account of the
quantity and strength of the spirits produced.
(g.) The cellar or storeroom required to be provided by
section 109 of the Distillation Act, 1908, shall be
kept for the storage of spirits and the spirituous
residues of distillation only.
(h.) When spirits are required for fortifying wine the
licensee shall give notice in writing to the Collector
or Officer in the form numbered 2 in the Schedule
hereto, stating the amount required and the quantity
of wine to be fortified.
