THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Plymouth, and known as the New Plymouth Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely, —

(a.) Bookmakers.

(b.) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.

(c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference.

(d.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

(e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of housebreaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.

The foregoing regulations of the Taranaki Jockey Club were made and passed by the Taranaki Jockey Club on the 28th day of July, 1919, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

NOTICE is hereby given that a general meeting of the members of the above-named company will be held at my office as above on Wednesday, the 27th day of August, 1919, at 4 p.m., for the purpose of having an account laid before them showing the manner in which the winding-up has been conducted and the property of the company disposed of, and of hearing any explanation that may be given by the Liquidator, and also of determining by extraordinary resolution the manner in which the books, accounts, and documents of the company and of the Liquidator shall be disposed of.

WAIROA COUNTY COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908, and in the matter of the Counties Act, 1908.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Wairoa County Council proposes, under the provisions of the above-entitled Acts, to execute a certain public work—namely, the deviation of portion of the public road known as the Mohaka-Tongoio Coast Road, and the necessary formation and construction work of the new line of road in connection therewith; and for that purpose the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken. And notice is likewise given that a plan of the said lands is deposited at the office of the said Council in Queen Street in the Borough of Wairoa, and is open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours.

All persons affected are called upon to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections they may have to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said lands, and to send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the County Clerk at the office of the Council aforesaid.

KAIRANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.

TAONUI RIDING.—RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and of all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Kairanga County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest, sinking fund, and other charges on the Kairanga County Council Taonui Riding Special Loan of £2,300, 1919, authorized to be raised by the Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of purchasing one motor lorry and the expenditure of the balance of the loan in plant for the Taonui Riding of the said county, the said Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one twenty-seventh of a penny in the pound sterling on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Taonui Riding of the said county; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and one-half (36½) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Kairanga was hereto affixed at the office of and pursuant to a resolution of the Council on the 12th day of August, 1919, in the presence of—

That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest, sinking fund, and other charges on the Kairanga County Council Fitzherbert Riding Special Loan of £2,400, 1919, authorized to be raised by the Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of erecting workmen’s cottages and purchase of the necessary land in the Fitzherbert Riding of the said county, the said Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-twelfth of a penny in the pound sterling on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value)
