Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Mongonui County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

MONGONUI COUNTY.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Western Special Rating Area of the County of Mongonui taken on Saturday, the 26th day of July, 1919, on the proposal of the Mongonui County Council to borrow the sum of £54,000 for the construction of roads and bridges in the Western Special Rating Area of the said county, upon the terms set out in the public notice published in the Northland Age newspaper on the 26th day of June, 1919, 3rd, 10th, and 17th days of July, 1919, in accordance with the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 383, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 23.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

THE following notice, received from the Christchurch City Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the City of Christchurch taken on the 7th day of August, 1919, on the proposal of the Christchurch City Council to borrow the sum of £150,000 for the further distribution and supply of electricity, and the provision and erection of all plant, material, and things necessary or incidental thereto, including the provision of standby plant and improvement of existing plant, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 2,246, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 188.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Piako was taken on the 1st day of August, 1919, on the proposal of the Piako County Council to borrow the sum of £7,000 for the purpose of (1) erecting a stone-crusher at Waiorongomai at a cost of £1,600; (2) purchasing roadmaking machinery, consisting of roller with scarifier attachment, grader, and two motor lorries, at a cost of £5,400.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 455, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 63.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

WAIKATO RIVER.—LEADING-BEACONS.

NOTICE is hereby given that since the Gazette Notice to Mariners No. 26 of April, 1918, the bar at entrance of Waikato River has again shifted to the northward, and the channel is narrowing, and in consequence deepening.

The landward leading-beacon has been moved to the southward 18 ft., and the leading-beacons in line now bear 67° 30′ (N. 52° 30′ E. magnetic).

Notice to Mariners.—No. 53 of 1919.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—ROUGH ROCK BEACON IN RANGITOTO CHANNEL.

Wellington, N.Z., 19th August, 1919.

THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that the black and white horizontal striped spherical buoy which formerly marked Rough Rock in Rangitoto Channel has been removed, and in place of it a beacon has been erected on the pinnacle of Rough Rock, as notified in Gazette Notice to Mariners No. 29, May, 1919. Position of beacon is as follows:—

Mount Victoria Flagstaff, 241°.
Bean Rock Lighthouse, 150½°.

VICTORIA.

NEW LIGHTS.—WESTERN PORT.

Round Island Light.

On and after 15th July, 1919, a double flashing light will be exhibited from a wooden structure on Round Island, at the south-west extremity of Phillip Island, Western Port.

The light shows white between the bearings of N. 62° 45′ E. and S. 24° 45′ W., showing red over the dangers of the Seal Rocks to the south and McHaffies Reef to the north.

The light will be of the following character: Two short flashes in quick succession, followed by an eclipse of seven (7) seconds.

Tortoise Head Light.

On and after 15th July, 1919, a flashing white light will be exhibited from Tortoise Head, Western Port.

The light will be visible between the bearings of N. 51° 24′ E. and N. 55° 24′ E.

The light will be of the following character: A short flash, followed by an eclipse of five (5) seconds.

Vessels using the light to enter the western entrance of Western Port should be careful to keep within the full beam of the light to avoid the dangers of the shoal water of the middle bank to the north and McHaffies Reef to the south.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

WEST COAST.—SMOKY BAY.—DISCONTINUANCE OF JETTY LIGHT.
