WAITARA HARBOUR.

Wellington, N.Z., 24th June, 1918.
THE Waitara Harbour Board have notified that the colour of the beacon to seaward of the flagstaff, which is used as a leading-mark when in line with the flagstaff, for crossing the bar, has been changed from white to red.

TIME-SIGNALS BY RADIO.
ACCORDING to information received under date of 24th April, 1918, from the Director of Naval Communications, time-signals are being transmitted by the U.S. Naval Radio Stations as follows:—

New Orleans, La. .. 11 a.m., 90th meridian time.

San Diego, Cal. .. 11 a.m., 120th meridian time.
North Head, Wash. .. 11 a.m., 120th meridian time.
Eureka, Cal. .. 11 a.m., 120th meridian time.
Point Arguello, Cal. .. 11 a.m., 120 meridian time.
San Francisco, Cal.. Noon and 10 p.m., 120th meridian time.
HAWAIIAN ISLANDS.
OAHU.—HONOLULU HARBOUR.—CHANGES IN AIDS.
On 1st April, 1918, the following changes were made in the aids in Honolulu Harbour :—
Honolulu Channel Range-lights were established as follows:—
Front Light, fixed red, of 600 candle-power, 56 ft. above the water, on a white pedestal on the roof of Pier 7, on the bearings—
Judiciary Building, tower .. 85° 30′
S.W. Chimney .. 166° 30′
Honolulu Harbour Lighthouse .. 222° 30′
Rear Light, fixed red, of 1,000 candle-power, 112 ft. above the water, on a white skeleton tower on the eastern corner of the roof of McCandless Building, 630 yards 29° 30′ from the front light.
NOTE.—The structures for these lights were erected, but the lights will not be exhibited until further notice.
Honolulu Entrance Gas-buoy 1 was moved 115 yards 204° and re-established in 5½ fathoms of water on the bearings—
Honolulu Harbour Lighthouse .. 27° 30′
S.W. Chimney .. 59° 00′
Quarantine Island Flagstaff .. 351° 30′
Honolulu Entrance Buoy 2 was moved 130 yards 202° and re-established in 11½ fathoms of water, on the bearings—

S.W. Chimney .. 52° 15′
Quarantine Island Flagstaff .. 345° 30′
Honolulu Channel Buoy Light 3 was discontinued.
Honolulu Channel Light 4 was not moved, but will be at a later date of which further notice will be given.
Honolulu Channel Light 7 was discontinued.
Honolulu Temporary Range-light was discontinued.
Honolulu Channel Light 5 was renumbered 3.
Honolulu Channel Gas-buoy 9 was renumbered 5.
QUEENSLAND.
WIDE BAY BAR.
Notice is hereby given that, when crossing Wide Bay Bar, the square white beacons must now be kept open three times their own width to the northward, and should be so kept until Inskip Point beacons are open half their width to the westward; then proceed as formerly.

JAPAN.
IKI CHANNEL, NORTH COAST OF KYUSHU.—NEW LIGHT TO BE SHOWN.
Notice is hereby given that newly established lighthouse on Futagami Jima, Province of Hizen, will be shown as follows on and after the 20th of April, 1918.
Futagami Jima Lighthouse.
Position.—Lat. 33° 36′ 18″ N., long. 129° 32′ 57″ E. (according to Japanese Admiralty Chart No. 187).
Description.—Octagonal concrete tower, painted white.
Height of Light.—40 shaku above the base, 318 shaku above the water.
Character of Light.—Fourth-order group-flashing white, showing a double flashing in quick succession during 8 seconds, followed by an eclipse of 22 seconds.
Illuminated Arc.—The whole horizon.
Power.—36,000 candles.
Visible Distance.—25 nautical miles in clear night.
SHIMONOSEKI STRAIT.
Notice is hereby given that Yojibei North-east lighted buoy and Yojibei South-west lighted buoy, W. entrance to Shimonoseki Strait, have been permanently withdrawn.
