Opening National Endowment Lands in Southland Land District for Selection by Discharged Soldiers on Renewable Lease.


LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto, which have been set apart for selection by discharged soldiers, shall be open for selection by discharged soldiers on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twentieth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915.


SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Southland County.—Oteramika Hundred.

Section 98, Block I: Area, 12 acres 0 roods 21 perches; capital value, £20; half-yearly rent, 8s.

Section 72, Block I: Area, 22 acres 3 roods 17 perches; capital value, £37; half-yearly rent, 15s.

Section 100, Block I: Area, 24 acres 1 rood 18 perches; capital value, £40; half-yearly rent, 16s.

Worked-out bush lands, situated about one mile and a half by formed road from Mokotua Railway-station, dairy factory, &c. Land almost flat, soil fair; suitable for dairying when cleared and grassed.

Wallace County.—Aparima Hundred.

Section 11, Block V: Area, 217 acres 3 roods 36 perches; capital value, £310; half-yearly rent, £6 4s.

Altitude, from 600 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level. Hilly country; fair soil, on clay subsoil; worked-out bush area, suitable for dairying when cleared; well watered by permanent streams. Access by good gravelled road for two miles, and formed road for forty-five chains, to Otautau Railway-station.

Trustees for the Waimea South Public Cemetery appointed.


LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the fourth section of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

WILLIAM ARNOLD and
GEORGE RENNELL HIGGINS

to be trustees; in the places of Thomas Shea and Robert Boddington, deceased, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Waimea South Public Cemetery, in conjunction with John McPherson, Frank Fowler, and John William Ching, previously appointed.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this twenty-second day of June, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

to be trustees; in the places of Alexander Bruce and Gideon Jack, deceased, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Takapuna Public Cemetery, in conjunction with John Green Kay, William Nathaniel Rushbrook, and Archibald Wilson, previously appointed.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this twenty-second day of June, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

Postmasters appointed to take and receive Statutory Declarations.


PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons set out in the Schedule hereto, being persons holding the office of Postmaster under the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, at the places set opposite their names in the said Schedule, are authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908.
