Canceling the Reservation for Scenic Purposes over Land in Port Nicholson Survey District, Wellington Land District.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
WHEREAS by section sixty-two of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1917, it is enacted that upon payment to the Public Account of the sum of seven hundred pounds by the Wellington City Council the Governor-General is authorized and empowered, by notice in the Gazette, to cancel the existing reservation of the land described in the Schedule hereto under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and to execute a Warrant for the issue of certificate of title for the said land in favour of the Corporation of the City of Wellington, in trust, for recreation purposes, and for the preservation of native flora :
And whereas the said sum of seven hundred pounds has been duly paid to the Public Account by the Wellington City Council, and it is expedient that the reservation hereinbefore referred to should now be cancelled :
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section sixty-two of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1917, do hereby cancel the existing reservation of the land described in the Schedule hereto under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 135 acres 3 roods, more or less, being Subdivisions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of Lot IX, Otari Native Reserve, Port Nicholson Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Subdivisions 7, 6, 5, 4, and 3 of Otari Native Reserve A, 4861·6 links; towards the north-east by Lot VIII, Otari Native Reserve, 3344·5 links; towards the south-east generally by the centre of the Kaiwarawara Stream, and by Sections 31 and 33, Block VI, Port Nicholson Survey District, 1390·6 links; and towards the south-west by Section 56, Block VI aforesaid, 2479·7 links.
Also all that area in the Wellington Land District, containing 6 acres 3 roods 12 perches, more or less, being parts of Lots VI, VII, and VIII, Otari Native Reserve, Port Nicholson Survey District, City of Wellington. Bounded towards the south-west by Subdivision 1 of Lot IX aforesaid, 419·6 links; towards the west and north-west generally by other parts of Lots VIII, VII, and VI aforesaid, 439·9 links, 422·2 links, and 513·7 links; towards the north-east by other parts of Lots VI and VII aforesaid, 483·1 links; and towards the south-east generally by the bank of the Kaiwarawara Stream.
Also all that area in the Wellington Land District, containing 28 perches, more or less, being part of Section 2, Block VI, Port Nicholson Survey District, City of Wellington. Commencing at a point on the south-eastern bank of the Kaiwarawara Stream where it is intersected by a continuation of the line forming the north-eastern boundary of the last-described area, and bounded towards the north-east and south-east by other parts of Section 2 aforesaid, 22·9 links, 125·3 links, and 255·7 links, to the bank of the Kaiwarawara Stream aforesaid; and towards the north-west generally by that stream to the place of commencement.
Also all that area in the Wellington Land District, containing 1 rood 39 perches, more or less, being part of Section 2, Block VI, Port Nicholson Survey District, City of Wellington. Commencing at the south-eastern corner of the last-described area, and bounded towards the north-east by other part of Section 2 aforesaid, 100 links, on a continuation of the line forming the north-eastern boundary of the last described area; towards the south-east generally by other part of Section 2 aforesaid, 138·5 links, 276·1 links, 70·2 links, and 90 links, to the bank of the Kaiwarawara Stream; towards the north-west generally by the Kaiwarawara Stream and by the south-eastern boundary of the last-described area, 255·7 links and 125·3 links, to the place of commencement.
Be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Amending the Regulations in respect to the Selwyn Plantation Reserves.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
WHEREAS certain regulations for the administration and control of the Selwyn Plantation Reserves were on the twelfth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, under the powers conferred by section seventy-seven of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1910, and such regulations were gazetted in the New Zealand Gazette of the eighteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eleven: And whereas it is expedient to revoke clauses fifteen and sixteen of the said regulations, and substitute the clauses hereinafter set forth :
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section seventy-seven of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1910, do hereby revoke clauses fifteen and sixteen of the said regulations, and do hereby substitute the following clauses in lieu thereof:—

The whole or any portion of any reserve administered by the Board, and not immediately required for planting, may be let by public tender or by public auction as may be decided by the Board. Notice of the land so available for leasing, the term of the lease, and the time and place for the receipt of tenders, or the time and place at which the auction will be held shall be given by advertisement in a newspaper circulating in the district thirty days prior to the expiration of the time fixed for the receipt of tenders or for the auction sale, as the case may be. The purchaser of any lease offered at auction shall, immediately on the fall of the hammer, deposit an amount equal to six months’ rent at the rate offered, together with £3 3s. lease fee.

Tenders for a lease of any of the said land offered for lease by public tender shall be addressed to the Chairman, and shall specify the land tendered for, and shall be accompanied by a deposit equal to six months’ rent at the rate offered and £3 3s. lease fee. The Board shall give notice to the successful tenderer of the acceptance of his tender, and the deposit and lease fee paid by an unsuccessful tenderer shall be refunded to him by the Board immediately after the tenders have been opened and decided upon.

Opening Settlement Land in Otago Land District for Selection.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the thirteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

These sections are situated at Middlemarch, Section 8s adjoining the township, and Section 17s about half a mile away. Access is by a good level road. A dairy factory adjoins Sections 12s, 13s, and 14s. The sections comprise level land of excellent quality. The soil is a rich black loam on a clay formation. Sections 13s and 14s are well watered by a creek, but the others are not watered, although water could probably be obtained by sinking.
