Land taken for the Purposes of a Road in Blocks XII,
Patetere North, and V, Patetere North-east Survey Districts.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken, under the Public Works Act,
1908, for a certain public work—to wit, for the purposes
of a road in Blocks XII, Patetere North, and V, Patetere
North-east Survey Districts :
And whereas all the conditions precedent required by law
to be observed and performed prior to the taking of such land
for the purposes hereinbefore specified have been observed
and performed :
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl
of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and autho-
rities vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of
every other power and authority in anywise enabling me
in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land
described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the
purposes of the said road; and I do also hereby declare
that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the
twenty-second day of June, one thousand nine hundred and
eighteen.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this fourth day
of June, 1918.

THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING
IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and thirty-three (a)
of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is enacted that a
local authority shall not declare any county road or district
road to be stopped until the consent thereto of the Governor-
General, by Order in Council gazetted, is obtained :
And whereas the Wairoa County Council has applied
for such consent in respect of the portions of roads de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto :
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the above-
in-part-recited Act, and of all other powers in anywise
enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of
the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the Wairoa
County Council stopping the portions of roads described in
the Schedule hereto.

Duty on certain Tobacco imported into the Cook Islands.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this tenth day
of June, 1918.

IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section three hundred and two of the
Customs Act, 1913, it is enacted that the Governor-
General may from time to time by Order in Council modify
the Tariff in its application to goods imported into the Cook
Islands, but so that such modification shall not have the
effect of imposing higher duties than those imposed by the
Tariff :
And whereas by Order in Council dated the thirtieth day
of January, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette of the thirty-first day
of January, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, the
Tariff was modified in its application to certain tobacco
imported into the Cook Islands :
And whereas it is expedient to amend the modification of
the Tariff contained in the said Order in Council of the
thirtieth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and
eighteen :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section
three hundred and two of the Customs Act, 1913, and of all
other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf,
and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Execu-
tive Council of the Dominion of New Zealand, doth hereby
revoke the said Order in Council of the thirtieth day of
January, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, and doth
hereby modify the Tariff in its application to goods imported
