Abolishing the Thames Drainage Board and Drainage Area.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the nineteenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the twenty-first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, regulations were made fixing the Thames Drainage Area and constituting the Thames Drainage Board (hereinafter called “the said Board”):
And whereas by section two hundred and fifty-two of the Mining Act, 1908, it is provided, inter alia, that the Governor-General may, if he thinks fit, abolish the said Board and drainage area:
And whereas it is now deemed expedient to abolish the said Board and drainage area:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by section two hundred and fifty-two of the Mining Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby abolish the Thames Drainage Board and the drainage area as from the date hereof.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this twenty-seventh day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps, Royal N.Z. Artillery, and Territorial Force.
APPOINTMENTS.
Major Rayner Barrington Smythe, D.S.O., p.s.c., N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Director of Military Operations, and is graded General Staff Officer, 2nd Grade.
Colonel the Honourable William Edward Collins, M.B., C.M.G., D., M.L.C., N.Z. Medical Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Director of Medical Services, Wellington Military District. Dated 15th May, 1918.
Lieut.-Colonel Mathew Holmes, M.D., F.R.C.S., Edin., N.Z. Medical Corps, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is appointed Assistant Director of Medical Services, Wellington Military District. Dated 15th May, 1918.
Major Charles Henty, Queen Alexandra’s 2nd (Wellington West Coast) Mounted Rifles, relinquishes the appointment of Area Officer (temp.), Hawera. Dated 30th April, 1918.
Major William George Ashworth, 6th (Manawatu) Mounted Rifles, relinquishes the appointment of Area Officer (temp.), Palmerston North. Dated 26th March, 1918.
The undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Medical Corps are appointed members of a Special District Medical Board :
Captain William Scott Watson, M.B. Dated 10th May, 1918.
Captain (temp.) Henry Morris Cowen, M.D., F.R.C.S. Dated 10th May, 1918.
Captain Douglas Wilson, M.B. Dated 16th May, 1918.
Captain (temp.) Harold Rugg, M.R.C.S. Eng. Dated 16th May, 1918.
Captain (temp.) Alfred Herbert Edwin Wall, M.R.C.S. Dated 16th May, 1918.
Lieutenant (temp.) James William Crampton, N.Z. Permanent Staff, is appointed Officer in Charge, Military Detention Barracks, Wanganui. Dated 5th March, 1918.
2nd Lieutenant Cyprian Everard Bridge, N.Z. Rifle Brigade (Earl of Liverpool’s Own), Territorial, is appointed Machine-gun Instructor in N.Z. Expeditionary Force Training-camps, and is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant whilst so employed. Dated 23rd April, 1918.
PROMOTIONS, RESIGNATIONS, AND TRANSFERS.
THE REGIMENT OF ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Major Francis Gustavus Hume is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force with effect from 30th May, 1918, and is absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Captain, as from 1st April, 1914, vide New Zealand Gazette No. 39, of the 16th April, 1914.
3RD (AUCKLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Sergeant Clarence Taylor Cobourne to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority next below 2nd Lieutenant Percy Wakeham Smith. Dated 27th April, 1915.
2nd Lieutenant Clarence Taylor Cobourne to be Lieutenant, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 18th March, 1918.
9TH (WELLINGTON EAST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.
2nd Lieutenant Howard Moore Glazebrook is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force with effect from 15th June, 1918, and is absorbed into the Regiment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 8th November, 1915, vide New Zealand Gazette No. 6, of the 27th January, 1916.
12TH (OTAGO) MOUNTED RIFLES.
2nd Lieutenant (temp.) John Elliott Winsloe to be Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 27th March, 1918.
N.Z. GARRISON ARTILLERY.
Reserve of Officers.
Lieutenant George Brooke Carter is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force with effect from 21st June, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank—viz., Lieutenant, as from 21st November, 1910.
