IT is hereby notified for public information that the Hon. the Minister of Customs has decided to interpret the Customs Duties Act in relation to the undermentioned articles as follows:—

NOTE.—“Not otherwise enumerated” appears as n.o.e.; “other kinds” as o.k.; “articles and materials suited only for, and to be used solely in, the fabrication of goods in the Dominion” as a. & m.s. Articles marked thus † are revised decisions.

THE Minister of Finance directs me to acknowledge receipt of 2s. 8d. and 2s., two sums forwarded to the Railway Department by persons unknown, as conscience-money to the New Zealand Government.

Notice to Mariners.—No. 2 of 1918.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—POSITION OF DREDGERS.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 23rd January, 1918.

THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that the dredgers “Hapai” and “121,” also suction dredgers Nos. 1 and 2, are now moored to the northward of the north-east corner of the Freeman’s Bay Reclamation.

The “Hapai” and dredger “121” are moored approximately 550 ft. and 400 ft. respectively N. by E. (mag.) from the north-east corner of the Reclamation, and each of these dredgers has six moorings laid out in N., S., E., and W. directions.

Suction dredgers Nos. 1 and 2 are moored approximately 200 ft. and 450 ft. respectively N.N.W. (mag.) from the north-east corner of the Reclamation, and each dredger has four moorings laid out in N.E., S.E., S.W., and N.W. directions.

These four dredgers are now laid up, and will remain in the above-mentioned positions indefinitely.

Public Service Stores Tender Board.—Supply and Delivery of Stores.

Wellington, 21st January, 1918.

TENDERS will be received at the office of the Chairman, General Post Office, Wellington, not later than 4 p.m. on Monday, the 25th March, 1918, for the supply and delivery of 850,000 envelopes, 2 gross office chairs, 600 electric lamps, and 2,000 reams duplicating-paper.

Particulars and conditions of tendering may be obtained at the office of the Controller of Stores, Post and Telegraph Department, Wellington; the District Storekeeper, Post and Telegraph Department, Christchurch; or at the offices of the Telegraph Engineers at Auckland and Dunedin.
