Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.
Wellington, 6th May, 1918.
THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Wairoa County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Wairoa taken on the 22nd day of March, 1918, on the proposal of the Wairoa County Council to borrow the sum of £2,200, for the purpose of providing Wairoa County Council’s share of cost of constructing protective works at and renewal of bridge decking and of alterations to the drawspan of Wairoa Town Bridge, the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal was 131, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 9.
I therefore declare that the proposal was duly carried.

Appointment of King’s Warehouse.
Customs Department,
Wellington, 2nd May, 1918.
IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Customs Act, 1913, I, the Minister of Customs, hereby declare a portion of the first floor of “K” Shed, Waterloo Quay, Wellington (which is for the time being in the occupation of the Crown), to be a King’s warehouse for the purposes of the said Act.

Proclamation of Road, Aitutaki, Cook Islands.
WHEREAS by section 607 of the Cook Islands Act, 1915, it is provided that the Minister for the Cook Islands may by warrant proclaim any Crown, European, or Native land as a road:
Now, therefore, I, Maui Pomare, Minister for the Cook Islands, do hereby, in pursuance of the authority so conferred upon him, proclaim as a road the land situated in the Cook Islands and described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
All that parcel of land situate in the District of Arutanga, in the Island of Aitutaki, Cook Islands, containing 2¼ perches, be the same more or less, being part of Section 57, Arutanga. As the said parcel of land is delineated in the plan numbered 3, signed by the Resident Commissioner of Rarotonga, and deposited in the office of the Registrar of the High Court of the Cook Islands at Rarotonga.
Given under my hand and the seal of the Cook Islands this 25th day of April, 1918.

Notice to make Returns of Income under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1916.
Land and Income Tax Department,
Wellington, 9th May, 1918.
NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the above Act and the regulations made thereunder, every person and company having derived income within the meaning of the said Act during the year ended 31st March, 1918, from any source or by any means which is made the subject of taxation under the said Act, is hereby required to make and furnish to me, in the prescribed form, returns of such income on or before the 1st day of June, 1918.
And, further, notice is hereby given that such returns shall in all cases be delivered at or forwarded to the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, in the Government Buildings at Wellington.

NOTE.—Forms of return may be obtained at any postal money-order office; they will not be sent to taxpayers from the office of the Commissioner of Taxes unless written application is made for them.
Returns of income are required to be furnished by all persons in business (including farmers). They are also required from all persons in receipt of income from salary, wages, interest, annuity, or other annual payment, where such income exceeds £250 per annum. The returns are required annually from such persons notwithstanding that by reason of the special exemptions allowable by law they may not be liable to pay tax.
SPECIAL NOTE.—By furnishing returns promptly taxpayers will save themselves being subjected to default assessments and mulcted in fines.

Public Trust Office Agencies opened, &c., and Agents appointed.
IT is hereby notified for public information that agencies of the Public Trust Office have been opened at—
- Thames and Coromandel (headquarters at Thames).
- Te Aroha.
- Whakatane.
- Te Kuiti.
- Taumarunui.
- Marton.
The agency at Raurimu has been closed, and the business transferred to Taumarunui.
The following agents of the Public Trust Office have been appointed for the following districts:—
- Thames and Coromandel District: Richard Stuart Mercer Kilgour, of Thames, agent.
- Te Aroha District: John Robert Nicol, of Te Aroha, accountant.
- Whakatane District: Harry Osborne Garaway, of Whakatane, accountant.
- Opotiki District: Claude Cyril Courtney, of Opotiki, secretary, vice Sergeant Ferguson.
- Te Kuiti District: John Frederick Draper Tam-madge, of Te Kuiti, agent.
- Taumarunui District: Alexander Smith Laird, of Taumarunui, valuer.
- Marton District: Francis Richard Hammond Brice, of Marton, commission agent.
The foregoing is to take effect from 15th May, 1918.
