Lieutenant Ronald Gordon Gallien is posted to the Retired List, with the rank of Captain, under the provisions of paragraph 35E, N.Z.E.F. Regulations. Dated 11th April, 1918.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.
Lieut.-Colonel Richard Walker Anderson, M.R.C.S., Eng., is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 30th October, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Lieut.-Colonel, as from 1st October, 1915 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 35, of the 30th March, 1916).

N.Z. DENTAL CORPS.
The undermentioned are granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant whilst employed in N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-camps :—
John William Tucker. Dated 10th April, 1918.
Ernest Gordon Bender. Dated 10th April, 1918.
Richard John Owen. Dated 13th April, 1918.

N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE.
Staff Nurse Ethel Eliza Hooper is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 22nd April, 1918, and is posted to the Retired List. Dated 22nd April, 1918.

UNATTACHED LIST (b).
Captain Herbert Addison Stratford is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 10th May, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Lieutenant, as from 20th July, 1915 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 128, of the 11th November, 1915).
Lieutenant William Wilkie Connor is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 17th May, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Lieutenant, as from 14th December, 1915 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 126, of the 9th November, 1916).
Lieutenant Edward Holdsworth Buckeridge is posted to the Retired List, with the rank of Captain, under the provisions of paragraph 35E, N.Z.E.F. Regulations. Dated 16th April, 1918.
2nd Lieutenant (temp.) John Wallace Atkinson to be Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 13th March, 1918.

Lieutenant Kamurea Anaha Kepa Ehau is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 15th May, 1918, and is posted with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 1st September, 1915.
2nd Lieutenant Victor Leonard Main Daniel is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 12th May, 1918, and is posted with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 31st July, 1917.
2nd Lieutenant Leslie Champion is posted to the Retired List, with the rank of Captain, under the provisions of paragraph 35E, N.Z.E.F. Regulations. Dated 6th June, 1918.

With reference to the notification published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 170, of the 22nd November, 1917, relating to Lieutenant Knox Gilmer, N.Z. Dental Corps, for the words “Dated 7th November, 1917,” read “Dated 31st January, 1917.”

Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps, R.N.Z.A., Territorial Force, and Samoan Garrison.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments to the Staff at General Headquarters and to the Samoan Garrison, and the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps, Royal N.Z. Artillery, and Territorial Force.

APPOINTMENTS.
Major Rayner Barrington Smythe, D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, is attached to the Department of the Chief of the General Staff. Dated 26th February, 1918.
Major (temp. Lieut.-Colonel) Murray Menzies Gard’ner, D.S.O., p.s.c., g., Royal N.Z. Artillery, is attached to the staff at General Headquarters for Inspectorial Duties connected with Coast Defences, and is graded Assistant Quartermaster-General at General Headquarters for duty in the Department of the Quartermaster-General to the Forces. Dated 23rd April, 1918.
Captain Irwin Eric Faris, M.B., N.Z. Medical Corps, is appointed a member of a Special District Medical Board. Dated 15th April, 1918.
Lieutenant Eric William Jim Milton, 13th (North Canterbury and Westland) Regiment, is appointed Aide-de-Camp (temporarily) to His Excellency the Right Honourable the Earl of Liverpool, P.C., G.C.M.G., M.V.O., Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief. Dated 25th April, 1918.

PROMOTIONS, RESIGNATIONS, AND TRANSFERS.
N.Z. STAFF CORPS.
Major Rayner Barrington Smythe, D.S.O., is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 26th February, 1918, and is absorbed into the establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Major, as from 1st January, 1915 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 109, of the 16th September, 1915).

THE REGIMENT OF ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Lieut.-Colonel Murray Menzies Gard’ner, D.S.O., p.s.c., g., is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 23rd April, 1918, and is absorbed into the establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Major, as from 1st April, 1912 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 79, of the 24th October, 1912).
Major Murray Menzies Gard’ner, D.S.O., p.s.c., g., is granted the temporary rank of Lieut.-Colonel whilst holding the appointment set out in this Gazette under the heading “Appointments.” Dated 23rd April, 1918.

4TH (OTAGO) REGIMENT.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) James Fleming is confirmed.
2nd Lieutenant James Fleming is transferred to the 14th (South Otago) Regiment. Dated 26th April, 1918.

13TH (NORTH CANTERBURY AND WESTLAND) REGIMENT.
2nd Lieutenant (temp.) John Finlaison Sutherland resigns his appointment. Dated 26th April, 1918.
2nd Lieutenant Thomas Edward Youd Seddon, from the Unattached List (b), General List, to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 16th April, 1918.

14TH (SOUTH OTAGO) REGIMENT.
2nd Lieutenant James Fleming, from the 4th (Otago) Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 26th April, 1918.

NEW ZEALAND RIFLE BRIGADE (EARL OF LIVERPOOL’S OWN), TERRITORIAL.
Lieutenant Thomas Marshall Kelly Johnstone is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 15th May, 1918, and is absorbed into the regiment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 22nd July, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 139, of the 14th December, 1916).

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.
Major (temp. Lieut.-Colonel) James Fitzgerald to be Medical Officer, Otago Military District, and retains the temporary rank of Lieut.-Colonel until further notice. Dated 1st March, 1918.
John Guthrie, M.B., to be Captain (temporary). Dated 7th April, 1918.
