Altering Boundaries of Counties of Mongonui, Whangaroa,
Hokianga, Bay of Islands, Whangarei, and Hobson.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS in pursuance of section one hundred and
ten of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and
Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1917, a Commission was
appointed to inquire and report as to what alterations (if
any) of the boundaries of the Counties of Hokianga, Hobson,
Whangarei, Bay of Islands, Mongonui, and Whangaroa were
desirable:

And whereas the said Commission has duly reported that
the boundaries of the said Counties should be altered in the
manner described in the report of the said Commission:

And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries of the
said Counties in such manner as is deemed to be in accordance
with the said report:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority conferred on me by the said Act, I, Arthur William
de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and
declare that on and after the first day of May, one thousand
nine hundred and eighteen, the boundaries of the Counties
of Mongonui, Whangaroa, Hokianga, Bay of Islands, Whanga-
rei, and Hobson shall be those set forth under their respective
headings in the Schedule hereto, in lieu of the boundaries of
the said Counties as at present defined.

SCHEDULE.
REDESCRIPTION OF COUNTIES.
Mongonui County.

All that area in the Land District of Auckland bounded
generally towards the south, commencing at the north head
of the Whangape Harbour on the Tasman Sea, thence gene-
rally following the tidal waters of the Awaroa Estuary to its
confluence with the Awaroa River at the Awaroa Bridge, on
the north-west corner of Section 11, Block X, Whangape
Survey District; thence by the centre of the Awaroa River
until it intersects the road on the north-west angle of Section 1,
Block X, Whangape Survey District; thence across that
road, and by the northern boundary of the said Section 1,
and by the western boundaries of Sections 68 and 69, and the
northern boundaries of Sections 69, 67, and 66, and part of
Section 60, of Block II, Whangape Survey District; thence
by the western and northern boundaries of Section 35, Block
XV, Takahue Survey District, and by the northern boundary
of the State forest reserve containing 2,600 acres (Gazette,
1st October, 1903, p. 2122); thence by the western boundary
of Mangamuka West No. 2, and the western and northern
boundaries of the said Mangamuka West Block, and the
northern boundary of Mangamuka East Block, until it is
intersected by the production in a southerly direction of the
western boundary of Section 71, Block VII, Maungataniwha
Survey District; thence in a northerly direction by the said
production of such western boundary, and by such western
boundary, and by the northern boundaries of Sections 71 and
69, Block VII, Maungataniwha Survey District; thence by
portion of the south-western boundary of Section 95, and by
the south-western boundary of Section 96, Block VII, Maunga-
taniwha Survey District, and by the north-west boundaries
of Sections 96, 97, 98, 99, 104, 105, 108, 109, and 151 of,
Blocks VII, III, and IV, Maungataniwha Survey District;
thence by the northern boundary of Section 151, and the
north-western boundaries of Sections 113 and 114, Block IV,
Maungataniwha Survey District, and by the north-western
boundary of Section 1 of Blocks IV, Maungataniwha, and XI,
Mongonui Survey Districts; thence by the south-west
boundaries of the Totara Kauri-gum Reserve Extension,
which lies to the north-east of Section 103, Block XI, Mongo-
nui Survey District (Berghan’s Old Land Claim), to “Stony”
Stream; thence generally in a northerly direction by the
centre of “Stony” Stream aforesaid to Section 61, Block VII,
