MEMORANDUM.

2nd Lieutenant H. A. W. Gray temporarily performed the duties of Adjutant, 4th (Reserve) Battalion, Auckland Regiment, from 1st September, 1917, to 25th December, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND RIFLE BRIGADE.

Major (temp. Lieut.-Colonel) L. H. Jardine, M.C., from Instructional Staff, Senior Officers’ School, Aldershot, to be Second in Command of a service battalion, ceases to be seconded, and relinquishes the temporary rank of Lieut.-Colonel. Dated 15th December, 1917.

2nd Lieutenant A. B. Sands is transferred to N.Z. Machine-gun Corps. Dated 16th December, 1917.

Lieutenant W. A. Gray, M.C., having been a prisoner of war since 7th August, 1917, is seconded under provisions of N.Z. Expeditionary Force Regulation 15 (b). Dated 7th November, 1917.

2nd Lieutenant G. Owen is seconded for duty with a field survey company, Royal Engineers. Dated 13th October, 1917.

The Reverend P. J. Minogue, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, is taken on the strength, with seniority from date of disembarkation from H.M.N.Z. Hospital Ship “Maheno.” Dated 21st December, 1917.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments and promotions of the undermentioned officers of the Territorial Force:—

COMMANDS AND STAFF.

Colonel Ralph Anderson Chaffey (D), Officer Commanding Canterbury Military District, to be Honorary Aide-de-Camp to His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, P.C., G.C.M.G., M.V.O., Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief, vice Colonel Vere Staunton Smyth, N.Z. Staff Corps, who relinquishes the appointment on transfer to British Army. Dated 11th July, 1917.

APPOINTMENT.

Major William Henry Borrie, M.B., N.Z. Medical Corps, is appointed Officer in Medical Charge, Quarantine Island and R.N.Z.A. Detachment, Otago Heads, and is also detailed for duty on Transports at Port Chalmers. Dated 15th February, 1918.

PROMOTIONS.

3RD AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.
