NEW ZEALAND CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend Canon William Stanley Bean (D.), Chaplain to the Forces, 2nd Class, to be Chaplain to the Forces, 1st Class. Dated 14th March, 1918.

The Reverend Owen Martin Doyle, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 12th April, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, as from 24th November, 1915 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 143, of the 16th December, 1915).

Lieutenant Frank Leslie Hunt is transferred to the 4th (Otago) Regiment (Coast Defence Detachment). Dated 8th November, 1917.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Victor William Colville is confirmed.

UNATTACHED LIST (b), GENERAL LIST.

Staff Sergeant-Major (W.O.) Harold Victor Millington, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant whilst employed at General Headquarters. Dated 13th March, 1918.

Lieutenant Leslie Alec Craven, M.C., is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 5th April, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 15th July, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 150, of the 4th October, 1917).

MEMORANDA.

Honorary Chaplain the Reverend C. J. Kinnersley resigns his appointment in the Samoan Force (N.Z. Expeditionary Force). Dated 6th February, 1918.

2nd Lieutenant William Sarsfield Clancy is posted to the Unattached List (b), General List. Dated 26th September, 1916.

CORRIGENDUM.

With reference to the notification published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 35, of 7th March, 1918, under the heading “Mounted Rifles,” delete the name of 2nd Lieutenant Charles Stanley Brown, N.Z. Rifle Brigade (T.).

Lieutenant W. H. Coates, attached Royal Flying Corps, having been declared to be “missing” since 22nd July, 1917, remains seconded under provisions of N.Z.E.F. Regulation 15 (b). Dated 22nd October, 1917.

Lieutenant D. S. Manners to be temporary Staff Captain, N.Z. Mounted Rifles Brigade, and is seconded whilst so employed. Dated 18th October, 1917.

Lieut.-Colonel C. E. R. Mackesy, C.M.G., D.S.O., to command N.Z. Training Units and Depots, Egypt, vice Major (temp. Lieut.-Colonel) C. R. Spragg, Wellington Mounted Rifles, appointed O.C. Desert Mounted Corps Rest Camp, Port Said, and remains seconded whilst so employed. Dated 6th November, 1917.

Major H. S. Whitehorn to be Second in Command of the Regiment. Dated 12th November, 1917.

WELLINGTON MOUNTED RIFLES.

Major (temp. Lieut.-Colonel) C. R. Spragg ceases to command Desert Mounted Corps Rest Camp, on return to regimental duty, relinquishes the temporary rank of Lieut.-Colonel, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 6th November, 1917.

Lieutenant W. G. Lyons to be A.D.C. to Major-General (temp. Lieut.-General) Sir H. G. Chauvel, K.C.M.G., C.B., and is seconded whilst so employed. Dated 26th August, 1917.

MEMORANDA.

Major A. S. Wilder, M.C., performed the duties of Second in Command of the Regiment from 11th September, 1917, to 7th November, 1917.

Major C. R. Spragg commanded N.Z. Training Units and Depots in Egypt from 26th April, 1917, to 22nd July, 1917, and temporarily commanded Desert Mounted Corps Rest Camp from 22nd July, 1917, to 6th November, 1917.

N.Z. CYCLIST CORPS.

N.Z. FIELD ARTILLERY.

Major H. J. Daltry, D.S.O., appointed Live-stock Commissioner, relinquishes the appointment of Staff Captain, N.Z. Divisional Artillery, and is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force. Dated 24th December, 1917.

Lieut.-Colonel H. E. Pilkington, g., R.N.Z.A., appointed A.D.O.S., 19th Corps, remains seconded whilst so employed. Dated 3rd December, 1917.

Lieutenant F. J. W. Stallard, M.C., is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst commanding a heavy trench-mortar battery. Dated 4th December, 1917.

Major (temp. Lieut.-Colonel) H. C. Glendining, N.Z.S.C., relinquishes the command of N.Z.D.A.C. and the temporary rank of Lieut.-Colonel. Dated 22nd November, 1917.
