Appointments, Promotions, Retirements, and Transfers of
Officers of the Territorial Force.

Department of Defence,
Wellington, 28th March, 1918.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the appointments, promotions, retire-
ments, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the
Territorial Force.

APPOINTMENTS.

Major Cyril Victor Atmore Baigent, M.B., N.Z. Medical
Corps (N.Z. Expeditionary Force), is appointed a member
of a Special District Medical Board, and is granted the
pay of Lieut.-Colonel at Expeditionary Force rates whilst
so acting. Dated 2nd March, 1918.
Lieutenant Charles Cockburn Miles, 5th (Wellington) Regi-
ment, performed the duties of Assistant Provost Marshal,
Auckland Military District, from 5th September, 1917,
and is confirmed in the appointment. Dated 7th March,
1918.

PROMOTIONS, RETIREMENTS, AND TRANSFERS.

10TH (NELSON) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant Reginald William Sparrow is struck off the
strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from
12th April, 1918, and is absorbed into the regiment with
his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Captain, as
from 14th August, 1917 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 139,
of the 6th September, 1917).

CORPS OF NEW ZEALAND ENGINEERS.

N.Z. Post and Telegraph Corps.

North Island Battalion.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) William
Charles Edwin Hudson is confirmed.

South Island Battalion.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Harold
Joseph Gray is confirmed.

4TH (OTAGO) REGIMENT.

Coast Defence Detachment.

Lieutenant Frank Leslie Hunt, from the Unattached List (b),
to be Lieutenant. Dated 8th November, 1917.

6TH (HAURAKI) REGIMENT.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 35,
of the 7th March, 1918, relating to 2nd Lieutenant (temp.)
David Albert Cumming Lilburne, is amended to read as
follows:—

7TH (WELLINGTON WEST COAST) REGIMENT.

David Albert Cumming Lilburne to be 2nd Lieutenant
(temp.). Dated 14th February, 1918.

15TH (NORTH AUCKLAND) REGIMENT.

Captain Claude Spencer White is struck off the strength of the
N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 12th April, 1918,
and is absorbed into the regiment with his original rank
and seniority therein—viz., Captain, as from 4th Sep-
tember, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 107, of the
21st September, 1916).
