Laughing Jackasses (Dacelo gigas) turned at large in East Coast Acclimatization Society’s District declared to be vested in that Society.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General directs it to be notified that the East Coast Acclimatization Society have turned at large a number of laughing jackasses (Dacelo gigas) in the East Coast Acclimatization District, and that the property in such laughing jackasses and their offspring, and in every bird of a like species at large in that acclimatization district, is deemed to be absolutely vested in the said East Coast Acclimatization Society for a period of two years from the date hereof, as provided by section 56 of the Animals Protection Act, 1908.

Date of Election to fill Extraordinary Vacancy on Christchurch Fire Board by Insurance Companies.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, and the rules made thereunder, I, George Warren Russell, Minister of Internal Affairs, being the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Saturday, the 13th day of April, 1918, to be the day for holding the election of one member of the Christchurch Fire Board by the insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill an extraordinary vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. J. F. Grierson.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Blocks XV and XVI, Porangahau Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Castlepoint, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in
