2nd Lieutenant Alfred John White is struck off the strength
of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 20th
March, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and
seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 2nd August, 1917.
Regimental Sergeant-Major Ernest Leonard Guy Bown is
granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant whilst employed
as Physical Training and Bayonet-fighting Instructor in
Expeditionary Force training-camps. Dated 23rd February, 1918.
CORRIGENDA.
With reference to the notification published in the New
Zealand Gazette No. 6, of the 27th January, 1916, relating
to Quartermaster and Honorary Captain Ernest Valentine
Sanderson, Reserve of Officers, for the words "Dated 13th
October, 1915," read "Dated 31st January, 1916."
With reference to the notification published in the New
Zealand Gazette No. 160, of the 18th October, 1917, relating
to the retirement of Staff Nurse Mary Watt, for the words
"Dated 21st April, 1916," read "Dated 28th January,
1918."

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, Kirikiriroa
Drainage District, County of Waikato.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to
His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Land
Drainage Act, 1908, praying that the area described in
the Schedule hereto may be included in the Kirikiriroa
Drainage District. All persons affected are hereby called
upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against
the proposed inclusion which they desire to lodge, within
one month from the first publication of this notice, such
objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of
Internal Affairs, Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
AREA PROPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN KIRIKIRIROA DRAINAGE
DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, bounded
towards the north generally by the centre of a public road,
from a point in line with the western boundary of Section 13,
Block IX, Komakorau Survey District, to a point in line with
the south-eastern boundary of Section 26, Block IX, Komakorau Survey District; thence towards the south-east generally by the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 26, 27, 34, 33, 49, 46, and the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of 45, all of Block IX, Komakorau Survey District; thence towards the south-west generally by the south-western boundaries of Sections 45, 46, 47, to the centre of a public road; thence by the centre of a public road to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 16, Block IX, Komakorau Survey District; thence by the southern boundary of that section to its south-western corner; thence by the eastern boundaries of Sections 10, 11, and 12, Block IX, Komakorau Survey District, to the centre of a public road, the place of commencement.

Board on the 7th day of December, 1917.

In pursuance of the By-laws Act, 1910, I hereby confirm
the above-written by-laws, and declare that the same came
into force on the 17th day of December, 1917.

Notice making and levying Rates under the Hauraki Plains
Amendment Act, 1911.
I DAVID HENRY GUTHRIE, Minister of Lands, in
exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the
Hauraki Plains Amendment Act, 1911, do hereby make and
levy upon the unimproved value of all lands liable to be
rated pursuant to that Act, a rate on a graduated scale as
specified in the Schedule hereto, according to the classification of the land.
The said rates will be payable in one sum on the 28th day
of March, 1918, to the Collector of Rates for the Hauraki
Land Drainage District, at the Head Office, Department of
Lands and Survey, Government Buildings, Wellington.
A copy of the rate-book may be inspected by ratepayers
at the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer at Kerepeehi at
all times at which that office is open for the transaction of
public business.
SCHEDULE.
CLASS A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as
Class A by the appraiser appointed under the said Act:
One penny in the pound.
CLASS B.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as
Class B by the appraiser appointed under the said Act:
Four-sevenths of a penny in the pound.
CLASS C.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as
Class C by the appraiser appointed under the said Act:
One-seventh of a penny in the pound.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Grocers' Shops in the Borough
of Hamilton, under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the grocers' shops in the
Borough of Hamilton, has been forwarded to me, desiring
that all such shops in the borough should be closed in the
evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays,
Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m., and on Saturdays at
9 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) Should the occupier
of any shop bound by the provisions of this requisition
observe Saturday as the statutory closing-day, the closing-hour on Wednesday for any such shop shall be 6 p.m.;
(2) the evening of the working-day immediately preceding
Christmas Day and the evening of the working-day immediately preceding New Year's Day, when the closing-hour
shall be 11 p.m.; (3) the evening of the working-day immediately preceding each of the following days, Boxing Day,
Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, the birthday of
the reigning Sovereign, and any day which, pursuant to a
Proclamation by the Governor-General or declaration by the
Government, or on the request of the Mayor or Chairman
of the local authority, is generally observed as a public
holiday or half-holiday, when the closing-hour shall be 6 p.m.:
And whereas the Hamilton Borough Council has certified
that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority
of the occupiers of all the grocers' shops within the Borough
of Hamilton;
