Special Order made by the Whangamarino Road Board.

THE following special order, made by the Whangamarino Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Road Boards Act, 1908.

WHANGAMARINO ROAD BOARD.

IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by the Noxious Weeds Act, 1908, and its amendments, the Whangamarino Road Board hereby resolves, by way of special order, that the plants mentioned in the Schedule hereto, being plants mentioned in the Third Schedule of the said Act, are noxious weeds within the Whangamarino Road District.

SCHEDULE.

African boxthorn (Lycium horridum).
Bathurst burr (Xanthium spinosum).
Broom (Cytisus scoparius).
Burdock (Arctium, any species).
Dock (Rumex, any species).
Elderberry (Sambucus niger).
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare).
Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea).
Giant burdock (Arctium majus).
Gorse (Ulex europæus).
Hakea (Hakea acicularis).
Hemlock (Conium maculatum).
Kangaroo acacia (Acacia armata).
Lupin (Lupinus luteus).
Ox-eye daisy (Chrysanthemum leucanthemum).
Pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium).
Periwinkle (Vinca major).
Ragwort, or ragweed (Senecio jacobæa).
St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum or H. humifusum).
Tauhinu (Cassinia leptophylla).
Thistles (any species).
Tutsan (Hypericum androsæmum).
Viper’s bugloss (Echium vulgare).
Wild borage (Echium violaceum).
Wild turnip (Brassica campestris).
Winged thistle (Carduus pycnocephalus).

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

Wellington, 13th March, 1918.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Manunui Town Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

MANUNUI TOWN BOARD.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Manunui Town District was taken on the 8th day of November, 1917, on the proposal of the Manunui Town Board to borrow the sum of one thousand pounds (£1,000) for the purpose of reforming, widening, and metalling Maukauroa and Maire Roads, and a portion of Totara and other streets within the town district.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 38, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 29. I hereby declare that the proposal was carried.

Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.—Joint Special Loan under Part II.

NOTICE is hereby given that each of the local authorities named in the Schedule hereunder (1) has taken all the steps required to be taken under the above-named Act prior to the raising of a special loan of the amount set opposite the name of such local authority in the said Schedule; and (2) has passed a resolution, as required by Part II of the above-named Act, for the raising of a joint special loan of the amount of £3,000 in union with the other said local authority; and (3) has complied with all other conditions prescribed in the case of a joint special loan by the above-mentioned Act; and (4) has named the Opotiki County Council to be the agent of the other said local authority for the purposes of the joint special loan, and to be the principal local authority as defined in Part II of the said Act.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Main Road and Trevor Street, in the Town of Kaimaumau, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I hereby authorize the laying-off of Main Road and Trevor Street, in the Town of Kaimaumau, Auckland Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. instead of 99 ft.

Award of Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long-service Medal.

Competitive Examination for Indian Civil Service.

Education Department,
Wellington, 19th March, 1918.

AN open competitive examination for the Indian Civil Service will be held in London, commencing on the 1st August, 1918, under the regulations now current, a copy of which may be inspected at the office of the Director of Education, Government Buildings, Wellington.

The number of vacancies to be filled will be determined later.

No person will be admitted to examination from whom the Secretary, Civil Service Commission, has not received, on or before the 1st June, an application in the handwriting of the candidate on the prescribed form, a copy of which may be obtained on application to the Director of Education, Government Buildings, Wellington.

For admission to the examination a prescribed fee of £6 is payable.
