Opening Land in Hawke’s Bay Land District for Selection
by Discharged Soldiers on Optional Tenures.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur
William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received
the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as pro-
vided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act,
do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule
hereto, which have been set apart for selection by discharged
soldiers, shall be open for sale or selection by discharged
soldiers on Thursday, the ninth day of April, one thousand
nine hundred and eighteen; and also that the lands mentioned
in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be
purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right
of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix
the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied,
or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do
declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased
under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908,
and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and
amendments.
SCHEDULE.
HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Patangata County.—Tautane Survey District.
SECTION 2, Block III: Area, 608 acres 3 roods 10 perches.
Capital value, £4,420. Occupation right with of purchase
Half-yearly rent, £110 10s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly
rent, £88 8s.
Situated nine miles and a half from Porangahau by formed
road, of which about five miles is metalled. Consists of good
hilly faces, with north-westerly aspect; in English grasses,
with patches of mingi scrub. Soil good, fairly well watered.
Altitude, 100 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level. Good sheep and
cattle grazing country. About 102 chains road and boundary
fencing, valued at £68 15s., included in price of section.
Section 3, Block III: Area, 578 acres 2 roods. Capital
value, £4,630. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-
yearly rent, £115 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent,
£92 12s.
Situated about nine miles from Porangahau by formed
road, of which five miles are metalled. Good hilly country,
south-easterly aspect; in English grasses and scrub, with
about 50 acres of mixed bush. Soil good, fairly well watered.
Altitude, 50 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level. Well adapted for
sheep and cattle grazing. About 138 chains of internal
fencing, valued at £86 4s., included in price of section.
Section 2, Block IV: Area, 440 acres. Capital value,
£3,740. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly
rent, £93 10s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £74 16s.
Situated about ten miles from Porangahau by formed road,
about half being metalled. Good hilly country, with northerly
aspect; in English grasses and scrub. Soil good, well watered.
Altitude, from sea-level to 800 ft. Good sheep and cattle
grazing country. Included in price of land are tanks, dam,
dip, yards, value about £40; and 120 chains internal fencing,
valued at £75.

General, this eleventh day of March, one thousand
nine hundred and eighteen.

Declarations.
PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the
two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices
of the Peace Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile,
Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion
of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that
SAMUEL JAMES WILLIAMS,
being a person holding the office of Postmaster under the
Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, at Waiuku, is authorized
to take and receive statutory declarations under the two-
hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the
Peace Act, 1908.
As witness my hand this fifteenth day of March,
one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.
