N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.
The Reverend C. Houchen, M.C., Chaplain to the Forces
(4th Class), having been declared by a Medical Board to
be unfit for general service within twelve months is seconded
under provisions of N.Z. Expeditionary Force Regulation 34.
Dated 6th December, 1917.
The Reverend C. H. Isaacson, Chaplain to the Forces (4th
Class), is appointed Assistant Principal Church of England
Chaplain for the N.Z. Expeditionary Force in Egypt.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the appointments, promotions, resigna-
tions, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the
Territorial Force.
APPOINTMENT.
2nd Lieutenant Valentine Stocker, M.C., Unattached List (b),
General List, is appointed Physical and Bayonet -fighting
Instructor in N.Z. Expeditionary Force training - camps,
and is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant whilst so
employed. Dated 28th January, 1918.
PROMOTIONS, RESIGNATIONS, AND TRANSFERS.
11TH (NORTH AUCKLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Major Charles Reginald Ernest Mackesy, N.Z. Expeditionary
Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 19th
February, 1918, and is absorbed into the Establishment
with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Major,
as from 26th August, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette
No. 107, of the 21st September, 1916).
3RD (AUCKLAND) REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).
Reserve of Officers.
Major Edwin Harrowell, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck
off the strength, with effect from the 31st January, 1918,
and is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain
his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 31st
January, 1918.
12TH (NELSON AND MARLBOROUGH) REGIMENT.
Major Robert William Stiles, D., retires under the provisions
of paragraphs 126 and 127, General Regulations, 1913.
Dated 5th February, 1918.
14TH (SOUTH OTAGO) REGIMENT.
Major Stanley Rice is transferred to the Reserve of Officers.
Dated 29th January, 1918.
NEW ZEALAND FORCES MOTOR SERVICE CORPS.
Motor-car Section, Wellington.
2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Alfred Duthie resigns his
appointment. Dated 24th January, 1918.

Captain Hardman Allgood Good, M.R.C.S., N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from
1st February, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank
and seniority—viz., Captain, as from 18th April, 1911,
(vide New Zealand Gazette No. 45, of the 1st June, 1911).
Captain William Stephen Baird, M.B., from the Reserve of
Officers, to be Captain. Dated 10th January, 1918.
Major Harry Compton Parsons, D. (Reserve of Officers),
retires under the provisions of paragraphs 126 and 127,
General Regulations, 1913, with the honorary rank of
Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 1st February, 1918.
NEW ZEALAND DENTAL CORPS.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) John Hunter Strauchon, relinquishes his appointment on H.M.N.Z. Hospital Ship
“Marama.” Dated 28th August, 1917.
Captain Henry Kiver Allison, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is
struck off the strength, with effect from 18th February,
1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority
—viz., Lieutenant, as from 29th May, 1916 (vide New
Zealand Gazette No. 81, of the 27th July, 1916).
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Louis Norman Guy Noakes
relinquishes his appointment on H.M.N.Z. Hospital Ship
“Maheno,” with effect from 3rd October, 1917, and retains
the temporary rank of Captain until further notice.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Louis Norman Guy Noakes is
posted for duty in the N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-
camps, and retains the temporary rank of Captain whilst
so employed. Dated 20th October, 1917.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) John Sanders Fairchild relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 10th
October, 1917.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Leo Paul Haywood relinquishes
his appointment in the N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-
camps, and the temporary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 12th June, 1917.
Captain Robert Dickson Elliott, N.Z. Expeditionary Force,
is struck off the strength, with effect from 18th December,
1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority
—viz., Lieutenant, as from 15th November, 1915 (vide New
Zealand Gazette No. 25, of the 2nd March, 1916); and
retains the temporary rank of Captain until further notice.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Robert Dickson Elliott is posted
for duty in the N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-camps,
and retains the temporary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 18th December, 1917.
Captain Frank Normanton Fussell, N.Z. Expeditionary Force,
is struck off the strength, with effect from 15th October,
1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority
—viz., Lieutenant, as from 8th December, 1915 (vide New
Zealand Gazette No. 25, of the 2nd March, 1916); and retains
the temporary rank of Captain until further notice.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Frank Normanton Fussell is
posted for duty in the N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-
camps, and retains the temporary rank of Captain whilst
so employed. Dated 23rd October, 1917.
The undermentioned Lieutenants (temp. Captains) employed
with the N.Z. Expeditionary Force relinquish the temporary
rank of Captain granted them whilst doing duty in New Zealand, to take effect from the dates shown against their
