Lands reserved under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister charged for the time being with the administration of the said Act, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor-General; and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown or private, shall be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the lands described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said lands should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereunder shall be scenic reserves under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.
ARIA SCENIC RESERVE.

ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 10 acres 3 roods 38 perches, more or less, being Section 35, Aria Suburban. Bounded towards the north by Section 29, Aria Suburban, 850·04 links; towards the east by Aria Street, 247·55 links, and Section 36, Aria Suburban, 929·97 links; towards the south by Section 18, Block IX, Totoro Survey District, 970·5 links; and towards the west by Section 10, Block IX aforesaid, 1146 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/204, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered pink.

WAINGARARA SCENIC RESERVE.

All that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 373 acres, more or less, being Section 11, Block VII, Pouatu Survey District. Bounded towards the north and east by the Waingarara Stream, the Tangarakau Road, 6354·4 links, and Section 12, Block VII aforesaid, 1767·1, 2757·7, and 2757·7 links; towards the south east by Section 7, 4660 links, and by Section 2, 8726·7 links; towards the south-west and west by Section 1, all in Block VII aforesaid, and the Ohura Road, 6295·9 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/204A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered pink.

PAPARATA SCENIC RESERVE.

All that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 1,023 acres, more or less, being Section 1, Block IV, Pouatu Survey District. Bounded towards the north by the Ohura Road, 12104·9 links; towards the east by the Marae kowhai Block, 17672·7 links; towards the south by Section 1, Block VIII, Pouatu Survey District, 10393 links; and towards the west by Sections 2 and 4, Block III, Pouatu Survey District, 1139·9 links, and a river-bank reserve: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/204B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered pink.

WHAKAPIKO SCENIC RESERVE.

All that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 33 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Section 2, Block IV, Pouatu Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by the Ohura Road, 285 links; towards the north-east, east, south-east, and south-west by the Tangarakau Stream: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/204C, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered pink.

PAKARU SCENIC RESERVE.

All that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 1,560 acres, more or less, being Section 2, Block III, Pouatu Survey District. Bounded towards the north by a river-bank reserve, Section 1, Block III aforesaid, a river-bank reserve, the Ohura Road, and Section 4, Block III aforesaid, 33154·8 links; towards the east by Section 1, Block IV, Pouatu Survey District, 7022·6 links, Awati Stream, a stream, and again by Section 1, 3817·9 links; towards the south and south-east by Section 9, Block VII, Pouatu Survey District, and a river-bank reserve, 29011·7 links; and towards the west by the Tangarakau Stream: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/204D, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered pink.

KOPA SCENIC RESERVE.

All that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 23·5 perches, more or less, being Section 22, Block XVI, Ohura Survey District. Bounded towards the north and west by the Wanganui River Road, 1006·1 links; towards the south-east by a road reserve, 511·3 links; towards the south-west by Section 21, Block XVI, aforesaid, 453·3 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/204E, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered pink.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this fifteenth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

Declaring Land set apart for the Preservation of Scenery under the Land Act, 1892, to be subject to the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto forms portion of a reserve permanently set apart for the preservation of scenery by Warrant dated the eighth day of June, one thousand nine hundred, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1892: And whereas it is expedient that the said land should be declared a reserve under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section twelve of the Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1910, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall, from and after the date hereof, be a scenic reserve under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and its amendments.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 154 acres 3 roods 8 perches, more or less, being part of Section 62, Block XIV, Ohinewairua Survey District. Bounded towards the west generally by the Hunterville-Tokaanu Road, and Sections 65 and 46A, Block XIV, Ohinewairua Survey District; towards the north and east generally by Sections 46 and 48 of said Block XIV; towards the south and west generally by the Papaki Road and by the Hautapu River to a point bearing 75° 53′ from traverse peg IV; thence towards the south-east by other part of Section No. 62 on a line bearing 255° 53′, 305·8 links, to the Hunterville-Tokaanu Road: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this fifteenth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.
