Service Act, 1916, doth hereby make the following regulations as to the method of preparing registers of the First Division of the Native Expeditionary Force Reserve as constituted by the aforesaid Proclamations of the twenty-sixth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and the twenty-fourth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and as to the method of selecting by lot for service with the Expeditionary Force reservists belonging to that division of the said reserve.

REGULATIONS.

PART I.

Registers of Native Reservists.

  1. THERE shall be a separate register of the First Division of the Native Expeditionary Force Reserve for and in respect of each of the recruiting districts constituted for that reserve by the aforesaid Order of the Minister of Defence of the 2nd day of July, 1917.

  2. Each register shall be kept in accordance with the card system, the cards to be arranged in the alphabetical order of the surnames of the reservists, and to be kept in cabinets containing such number of boxes as the Government Statistician from time to time thinks necessary. The boxes shall be numbered consecutively.

  3. The cards shall be prepared by the Government Statistician, and shall contain such material particulars with respect to the reservists as may be within the knowledge of the Statistician.

  4. The register of any recruiting district shall be deemed to be constituted so soon as the Government Statistician has certified in writing to the Minister of Defence that such register has been constituted.

PART II.

Selection of Native Reservists by Lot.

  1. When the Minister of Defence has authorized the calling-up from any of the aforesaid recruiting districts of reservists belonging to the First Division of the Native Expeditionary Force Reserve, the selection of those reservists shall be made separately in respect of each recruiting district from which reservists are to be called up, and shall take place in accordance with the provisions of Part II of the Schedule to the Order in Council of the 1st day of October, 1917, determining the method of selecting reservists by lot from the Expeditionary Force Reserve, and those provisions shall apply to the register of the First Division of the Native Expeditionary Force Reserve for each recruiting district in the same manner in which they apply to the register of the First Division of the Expeditionary Force Reserve.
