Lieutenant Henry Ronald Mottram to be Captain, under the
provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913.
Dated 31st May, 1917.
Lieutenant Henry Ronald Mottram, N.Z. Expeditionary
Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 28th
October, 1917, and is absorbed into the establishment with
his original rank and seniority therein, viz., Captain, as
from the 31st May, 1917.

2ND (SOUTH CANTERBURY) REGIMENT.
2nd Lieutenant John Campbell Murdock McLeod to be
Lieutenant, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General
Regulations, 1913. Dated 16th January, 1918.
2nd Lieutenant Colin Lillie Gillies, from the Unattached
List (b) to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 23rd January, 1918.

3RD (AUCKLAND) REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY'S OWN).

be Lieutenant. Dated 22nd January, 1918.

NEW ZEALAND FORCES MOTOR SERVICE CORPS.
Motor-car Section (Otago).
Lieutenant James Moye McMeekin is transferred to the
Canterbury Section. Dated 25th January, 1918.
Motor-car Section (Auckland).
2nd Lieutenant John Alexander to be Lieutenant. Dated
23rd January, 1918.

NEW ZEALAND MEDICAL CORPS.
Captain William Frederick Willis, M.R.C.S., N.Z. Expedi-
tionary Force, is struck off the strength with effect from
24th January, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank
and seniority, viz., Captain, as from 19th May, 1915, vide
New Zealand Gazette No. 77, of the 24th June, 1915.
Major Aubrey Vincent Short, M.C., M.B., N.Z. Expeditionary
Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 27th
January, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and
seniority, viz. Captain, as from 1st September, 1914, vide
New Zealand Gazette No. 103, of the 24th September, 1914.
Alexander Martin Ross, M.B., to be Lieutenant. Dated
1st November, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND CHAPLAINS' DEPARTMENT.
The Reverend Canon Frank Mayne, Chaplain to the Forces,
3rd Class, retires under the provisions of paragraphs 126
and 127, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 24th January,
1918.
The Reverend Edgar James McFarland, Chaplain to the
Forces, 3rd Class, retires under the provisions of para-
graphs 126 and 127, General Regulations, 1913. Dated
26th January, 1918.
The Reverend William Walker, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th
Class, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength
with effect from 28th February, 1918, and is absorbed with
his original rank and seniority, viz., Chaplain to the Forces,
4th Class, as from 11th March, 1915, vide New Zealand
Gazette, No. 61, of the 6th May, 1915.
Gill Inglis (Salvation Army) to be Chaplain to the Forces,
4th Class (temp.). Dated 16th January, 1918.
Alfred Henry Charker (Salvation Army) to be Chaplain to
the Forces, 4th Class. Dated 19th January, 1918.

Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 23rd
February, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank
and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 1st October,
1915, vide New Zealand Gazette, No. 115, of the 7th October,
1915.
2nd Lieutenant Justin Francis Huntly McCarthy, N.Z.
Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength with effect
from 1st March, 1918, and is absorbed with his original
rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 24th
February, 1917, vide New Zealand Gazette, No. 150, of the
4th October, 1917.
2nd Lieutenant David Arthur Lusk, N.Z. Expeditionary
Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 23rd
February, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank
and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 15th July,
1916, vide New Zealand Gazette, No. 150, of the 4th October,
1917.
With reference to the notification published in the New
Zealand Gazette, No. 5, of the 17th January, 1918, relating
to 2nd Lieutenant William Edward Grant, for the words
“as from 11th November, 1916, vide New Zealand Gazette
No. 126, of the 9th November, 1916,” read “as from
28th May, 1916, vide New Zealand Gazette, No. 39, of the
1st March, 1917.”

ADDENDUM.
With reference to the notification published in the New
Zealand Gazette, No. 143, of the 16th December, 1915,
relating to Lieutenant C. E. May, N.Z. Army Service
Corps, after the words “Lieutenant C. E. May,” add
“appointed to the N.Z. Expeditionary Force on 28th
September, 1914,” vide Gradation List of September, 1917.

MEMORANDA.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Eric Spencer Bailey, N.Z. Dental
Corps, relinquishes his appointment on H.M.N.Z. Hospital
Ship "Marama," and is posted for duty in the N.Z.
Expeditionary Force Training Camps and retains the
temporary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated
29th January, 1918.
Lieutenant Murray Kingsley Litchfield, N.Z. Dental Corps, is
posted for duty on H.M.N.Z. Hospital Ship "Marama,"
and is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst so
employed. Dated 29th January, 1918.

Award of Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers’ Decoration.

Department of Defence,
Wellington, 6th February, 1918.

His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the award of the Colonial Auxiliary
Forces Officers' Decoration to Captain (Quartermaster) George
Daniel Hollis Hefford, 2nd (South Canterbury) Regiment, he
having a total rank and commissioned service, to the 15th
January, 1918, entitling him thereto, of twenty-three years
and thirty-nine days.
