Triennial Election of Members of Teachers’ Superannuation Board.

Wellington, 6th February, 1918.

IN pursuance of regulations made under the Public Service Classification and Superannuation Amendment Act, 1908, I hereby certify that for the triennial election of members of the Teachers’ Superannuation Board constituted by the said Act nominations were received as follows :—

For the North Island: Erskine, Albert.
For the South Island: Davidson, William.
Purchase, John Ernest.

As the number of persons nominated does not exceed the number of vacancies to be filled, I hereby declare that ALBERT ERSKINE, WILLIAM DAVIDSON, and JOHN ERNEST PURCHASE are duly elected members of the said Board.

I hereby further give notice that as the number of vacancies to be filled for the North Island was two, a further election will be held for the purpose of electing one person from among the contributors resident in the North Island; and notice is given that—
(1.) The said election will be held on Monday, the 1st day of April, 1918, at the offices of the Education Department, Wellington.
(2.) The poll will close at 5 o’clock p.m.
(3.) Nominations will close on Monday, the 24th day of March, 1918.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leases and licenses of the undermentioned lands having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Southland Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Commissioners appointed to classify and report upon lands in the Canterbury Land District have classified the pastoral runs in the Schedule hereto as therein noted, and the classification has been approved by His Excellency the Governor-General under section 225 of the Land Act, 1908.

Pastoral Run in Canterbury Land District for License by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral run will be offered for license by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, at 11 o’clock a.m. on Tuesday, 19th March, 1918, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and its amendments.

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—CLASS A.

Term: Twenty-one years from 1st March, 1919.

Tawera County.—Hawdon, Esk, and Okuku Survey Districts.—Lochinvar Run.

Run 177: Area, 68,500 acres; upset annual rent, £500. Weighted with £875, valuation for improvements comprising the cost of 1,210 chains of subdivisional fences and the half cost of 226 chains boundary-fence between Mount White and Lochinvar, and two huts and sheep-yards, one-half payable on fall of hammer and balance in twelve months. There is some flat land to the east of Nigger Creek that would probably grow turnips and rape, and there are also some sunny faces fairly well grassed; remainder rough, broken, pastoral country and barren mountain-tops. Altitude, 2,470 ft. to 6,100 ft. Well watered. About twenty-one miles from Cass Railway-station—fifteen miles by dray-road to Lake Letitia, and six miles to the run boundary by rough pack-horse track.

Maruia Hot Springs Reserve, Nelson Land District, for Lease by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned reserve will be offered for lease by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, at 11 o’clock a.m. on Wednesday, 27th March, 1918, under the provisions of section 329 of the Land Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—MURCHISON COUNTY.—MARUIA HOT SPRINGS RESERVE.

Lots 1 and 2 of Section 2, Square 182, Block IV, Lewis Survey District, and Block I, Travers Survey District: Area, 4,048 acres; upset annual rent, £30.

The reserve is about one mile wide, and extends up the Maruia Valley, starting at a point about half a mile above the Alfred River confluence, and running for a distance of about seven miles and a half to a point close to the forks of the Maruia at the entrance of the Cannibal Gorge.

The flats along the river-bed and the river-bed itself are covered with patches of grass, scrub, and light bush, and carry English grasses, mostly self-sown. The balance of the block is steep broken hillside, covered with brown and silver birch.

The hot springs are situated on the north side of the river, at a point about six miles up from the Alfred River confluence. Bath-rooms have been constructed close to the springs. These consist of two small buildings, one containing two rooms and the other one room, used as bathing-sheds for
