Notice of Intention to take Land in Block V, Cambridge Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Block V, Cambridge Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Cambridge, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Situated in Block V, Cambridge Survey District. (S.O. 19509 and 19510).
In the Auckland Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 45103, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.

Prohibited Imports into the United Kingdom.—Concessions in respect of certain Goods.

IT is hereby notified for public information that advice has been received from the High Commissioner for New Zealand that the following goods, the importation of which into the United Kingdom is prohibited, are allowed delivery if imported from British Dominions:—
A. CONCESSIONS IRRESPECTIVE OF CONSIGNEE.
- Sugar and molasses, in quantities not exceeding 1 lb., however imported.
- Other prohibited goods—
(a.) If sent by parcel-post and obviously intended as gifts for addressees (does not extend to articles of gold, silver, or jewellery exceeding £1 in value per parcel).
(b.) As bona fide personal effects in passengers’ baggage in reasonable quantities (limited in the case of tea to 10 lb., of spirits to one liquid gallon, and of books and periodical publications to one copy of each publication or issue per passenger).
(c.) Maps and plans, newspapers, magazines, periodicals, price-lists, and books by parcel-post, provided each parcel does not exceed 7 lb. in weight.
B. ADDITIONAL CONCESSIONS FOR GOODS CONSIGNED TO OVERSEAS TROOPS.
- Sugar and molasses: Bona fide gifts sent to members of overseas contingents or Allied troops.
- All goods consigned to one of the institutions approved for receiving dutiable goods duty-free.

BY virtue of the powers vested in me by section 10 of the Statute Law Amendment Act, 1917, I, Josiah Alfred Hanan, Minister of Education, do hereby declare the Industrial School, Caversham, Dunedin, and the Receiving Home, 117 Tinakori Road, Wellington (industrial schools within the meaning of the Industrial Schools Act, 1908), to be Probation Homes for children.

BY virtue of the powers vested in me by section 10 of the Statute Law Amendment Act, 1917, I, Josiah Alfred Hanan, Minister of Education, do hereby declare the Boys’ Probation Home, Wellington (an industrial school within the meaning of the Industrial Schools Act, 1908), situated at 9 Austin Street, Wellington, to be a Probation Home for children, and have approved of JOHN DINEEN, a Juvenile Probation Officer, as Officer in Charge of the Home.

The Industrial Schools Act, 1908.—Notice to the Public Trustee.

WHEREAS Halcrow Innes is at present an inmate of the special school for boys, Otekaike: And whereas such inmate is entitled to certain moneys: And whereas it appears expedient to issue the directions hereinafter set forth:
Now, I, Josiah Alfred Hanan, Minister of Education, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 38 of the Industrial Schools Act, 1908, do hereby direct the Public Trustee to take possession of all such moneys, and apply the same for the benefit of such inmate in accordance with the provisions of the said Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the Rakaia Road Board District, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the district shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. on the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions—
