HIS Excellency the Governor-General has, in pursuance of section 48 of the Land Act, 1908, approved of meetings of the Otago Land Board being held at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, at 10 o’clock a.m. on Wednesday, 8th January, 12th February, 12th March, 9th April, 14th May, 11th June, 9th July, 13th August, 10th September, 8th October, 12th November, and 10th December, during the year 1919.

Amending Regulations for the Examination of Masters and Mates.
Marine Department,
Wellington, 5th December, 1918.
WHEREAS by warrant dated the 19th day of September, 1918, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 133, of the 26th day of the same month, regulations were made governing the examination of candidates for certificates of competency as masters and mates:
And whereas it is desired to amend regulation 26 of the hereinbefore-recited regulations in the manner hereinafter described:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 23 of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, I do hereby make the following regulation amending the hereinbefore-recited regulation; and I do hereby order that it shall come into force on the 12th day of December, 1918.
REGULATION.
REGULATION 26 is hereby amended by the insertion of the words “other than master of a river-limits vessel” after the word “grade” in the second line.

Amending Regulations relating to the Examination of Engineers in the Mercantile Marine.

WHEREAS by warrant dated the 13th day of June, 1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 58, of the 18th day of the same month, regulations were made for the conduct of examinations of engineers:
And whereas it is desired to amend regulation No. 4 in the manner hereinafter described:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, I do hereby revoke the said regulation No. 4 of the hereinbefore-recited regulations, and do make the following regulation in lieu thereof; and I do hereby order that the said amended regulation shall come into force on the 1st day of January, 1919.
REGULATION.
- CERTIFICATES of competency will be granted to those persons who are British subjects and who pass the requisite examinations, and otherwise comply with the requisite conditions. For this purpose Examiners have been appointed, and arrangements have been made for holding the examinations at the following places, viz.:
At Auckland, during the first three working-days after the 14th day in the months of January, March, May, July, September, and November.
At Hamilton, during the first three working-days in January, May, and September.
At Napier, during the first three working-days in February, June, and October.
At Wanganui, during the first three working-days in February, June, and October.
At Palmerston North, during the first three working-days in February, June, and October.
At Wellington, during the first three working-days in February, April, June, August, October, and December.
At Nelson, during the first three working-days in February, June, and October.
At Greymouth, during the first three working-days in February, June, and October.
At Christchurch, during the first three working-days in January, March, May, July, September, and November.
At Timaru, during the first three working-days in March, July, and November.
At Dunedin, during the first three working-days in February, April, June, August, October, and December.
At Invercargill, during the first three working-days in April, August, and December.
In cases of emergency the Examiners will exercise their discretion as to examining candidates at other than the prescribed periods.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Eureka Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

EUREKA DRAINAGE BOARD.
Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers in that portion of the Eureka Drainage District designated the Newstead Special Rating Area, taken on the 28th day of November, 1918, upon the proposal of the Eureka Drainage Board to borrow the sum of £500 for the purpose of constructing, widening, and deepening drains in the Newstead Special Rating Area, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 13, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 4.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

WOODLANDS DRAINAGE BOARD.
Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers in that portion of the Woodlands Drainage District designated the Woodlands Special Rating Area, taken on the 28th day of November, 1918, upon the proposal of the Woodlands Drainage Board to borrow the sum of £1,000 for the purpose of widening and deepening drains and providing outlet drains, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 7, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 0.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), and by the regulations made on the 12th May, 1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 21st May, 1914, the following officer, at the address set against his name, is hereby appointed a Transmitting and Receiving Officer for the purpose of dealing with all notices by telegraph sent under the said Act or regulations, and of signing such certificates in relation to the service of any such notices as are required or authorized to be signed or given under the said Act or the regulations aforesaid:—
