Portion of the North-western side of Aurora Terrace, City of Wellington, exempted from the Provisions of Section 117 of the Public Works Act, 1908.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this fourth day of November, 1918.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by subsection one of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is, inter alia, provided that the said section shall not apply in any case where the local authority having control of a road or street by resolution declares that the provisions thereof shall not apply to any specified road or street, or any specified part thereof, and such resolution is approved by the Governor-General in Council:

And whereas by subsection two of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, and clause (b) of subsection one of section thirteen of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, it is provided that such approval may be either absolute or subject to such conditions with respect to the building-line as the Governor-General by Order in Council thinks fit to impose, and may refer to one or both sides of the road or street:

And whereas the Wellington City Council, the local authority having control of the portion of street described in the Schedule hereto, hereinafter referred to as the said portion of street, has passed the following resolution—viz., “The Wellington City Council, being the local authority having control of the streets in the City of Wellington, hereby declares that the provisions of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, shall not apply to that portion of Aurora Terrace abutting on parts of Sections 496 and 498, City of Wellington, having a frontage to the said Aurora Terrace of 284·1 links, being the property known as the Gore Estate”:

And whereas it is deemed expedient that such resolution should be approved in so far as it refers to the north-western side of the said portion of street:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Acts, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the said resolution to the extent hereinbefore mentioned.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that portion of the north-western side of Aurora Terrace, situated in the Wellington Land District, City of Wellington, abutting on Sections 496 and part 498, City of Wellington. As the said portion of street is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 43831, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue.

Portion of Bay View Road, South Dunedin, exempted from the Provisions of Section 117 of the Public Works Act, 1908.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

And whereas it is deemed expedient that such resolution should be approved:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the said resolution.

ALL that portion of street situated in the Otago Land District, City of Dunedin, known as Bay View Road, adjoining Allotment 25, Block VIII, Township of South Dunedin. As the said portion of street is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 45044, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue.

Prohibiting all Alienation of certain Native Lands other than Alienation in favour of the Crown.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this fourth day of November, 1918.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

ON the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase Board, referred to in section three hundred and sixty-three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prohibit, for the period of one year from the date of this Order in Council, all alienation of the Native lands specified in the Schedule hereto other than alienation in favour of the Crown.

Regulations for the Protection of Life and Property on Ships.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this fourth day of November, 1918.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section two hundred and thirty-two of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, that the Governor-General may from time to time by Order in Council make regulations, inter alia, for regulating matters relating to the protection of the life and property of passengers and others on board ships:

And whereas it is desirable to make the regulations hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the said section, and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following regulations, and doth hereby declare that the said regulations shall come into force on the date of publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
