Settlement Land set apart for Disposal by way of Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers, under Special Tenures, in the Wellington Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section four of the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area of settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby set apart and declared open for disposal by way of sale or lease to discharged soldiers, under special tenures, in the manner provided in the said Act.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.—DIXON SETTLEMENT.
SECTION 2A, Block IV, Waitohu Survey District, Muhunoa 1B: Area, 60 acres.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Member of His Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Knight of Grace of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this nineteenth day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

Declaring Crown Land in the Westland Mining District, Nelson Land District, open for Disposal on Renewable Lease.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and thirty-three of the Land Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), it is enacted that the Governor-General, by Proclamation, may from time to time declare any Crown lands within any mining district not held under lease or license, or for which a lease or license has been cancelled, to be open for disposal, as provided in section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-three of the said Act, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the section of land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open on Wednesday, the eleventh day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, for disposal on renewable lease, as provided in section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act; and I do also declare that for the purposes of section one hundred and twenty-seven of the said Act the section of land described in the Schedule hereto shall be deemed to be heavy-bush land.
And I do hereby provide that, after the first half-years’ rent has been paid by the selector, the further instalments of rent payable by him for a period of four years shall not be demanded; provided that if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land the rent so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount of rent previously conceded to the selector, as the Board thinks fit.

(Exempt from Rent for Four Years.)
Second-class Heavy-bush Land.
SECTION 9, Block XV: Area, 297 acres; capital value, £340; half-yearly rent, £6 16s.
All hill country; land of good quality, suitable for pastoral purposes. Originally covered with birch bush, but fires have destroyed a large portion, and the burnt area is now coming up in fern. Six miles and a half from Murchison—three miles dray-road and balance bridle-track. Altitude, 900 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level.
