Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Tauranga County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1915, I hereby notify that the following is the result of a poll of ratepayers of the Te Puna Riding taken on the 28th day of September, 1918, on the proposal to borrow a sum of £2,000 for metalling the main Tauranga-Waihi Road in the Te Puna Riding: Number of valid votes recorded, 28; for the proposal, 24; against the proposal, 4.
The number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal being more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded I hereby declare the proposal carried.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block III, Piako Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Block III, Piako Survey District—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Waitakaruru, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of all Shops in the Borough of Taihape, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the Borough of Taihape, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5.30 p.m., and on Saturdays at 8.30 p.m., with the following exceptions: (1) The working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day, when the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m.; (2) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe, pursuant to section 11 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Thursday for any such shop shall be 5.30 p.m., and the closing-hour on Friday shall be 8.30 p.m.; (3) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe, pursuant to section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, any of the days therein mentioned other than Thursday as the statutory closing-day in any week, then and in such case the closing-hour on Thursday for any such shop in any such week shall be 5.30 p.m.; and should such day fall on Saturday the closing-hour on Friday shall be 8.30 p.m.
And whereas the Taihape Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops within the Borough of Taihape:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 23rd day of October, 1918, all the shops in the Borough of Taihape shall be closed accordingly.

Notice to Mariners, No. 65 of 1918.
BAY OF ISLANDS.—BROTHERS ROCK.

Wellington, 14th October, 1918.
NOTICE is hereby given that a beacon has been erected on Brothers Rock, off Poraenui Point, at the entrance to Kerikeri River, Bay of Islands. The beacon, which is painted red, is an iron staff surmounted by a small drum, the top of which is 20 ft. above high water. The rock on which the beacon has been placed dries 4 ft. at L.W.O.S., and is the N.N. eastern rock. The other rock of the group, which dries 1 ft. only, lies S.S.W. distant about 120 yards from the beacon.
