Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, Huntress Creek Drainage District, County of Opotiki.

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 15th October, 1918.

It is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Land Drainage Act, 1908, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be included in the Huntress Creek Drainage District. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed inclusion which they desire to lodge, within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.
AREA TO BE INCLUDED IN HUNTRESS CREEK DRAINAGE DISTRICT.

All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north generally by the Huntress Creek Drainage District as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1916, page 3933, from the northernmost corner of Section 4, Block II, Opotiki Survey District, to the north-eastern corner of Section 404, Block VI, Opotiki Survey District; thence to and by the northern boundary of Block VI aforesaid to its intersection with the western boundary of Block VII, Opotiki Survey District; thence towards the east by the western boundary of that block to its south-eastern corner; thence towards the south generally by the northern boundary of Block X, Opotiki Survey District, to the western boundary of Section 399, Block X aforesaid; thence by the western boundary of that section, the north-eastern, southern, and western boundaries of Section 490, the northern boundary of Section 489, Block X, to a public road forming the north-western boundary of that section; thence towards the west generally by that road to the place of commencement.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

The following notice, received from the Chairman of the Stratford County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

STRATFORD COUNTY COUNCIL.

Result of a poll of ratepayers of the South Riding of the County of Stratford, taken on Wednesday, 25th September, 1918, on the proposal to raise special loans as follows:—

  1. To reconstruct bridges on roads in the South Riding of the County of Stratford, under the jurisdiction of the Stratford County Council.
  2. To borrow for such purpose, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and its amendments, amounts that may from time to time be required.
  3. To pledge as security for such loans, together with interest thereon, a special annual-recurring rate over the whole of the South Riding of the County of Stratford, to be called a “bridge rate”; such rate not to exceed in any one year the amount of ½d. in the pound on the capital value of all rateable property comprised within the South Riding of the County of Stratford.
  4. The cost of raising the rate and raising the loans to be charged against the General County Fund.
    Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 53.
    Number of votes recorded against the proposal, 18.
    As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal exceeds three-fifths of the valid votes recorded at the poll, I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.
