IT is notified for general information that Proclamations have been issued by the Imperial Government prohibiting the importation to the United Kingdom, except under license of the Board of Trade, of the undermentioned goods.

Applications for licenses are to be addressed to the Controller, Department of Import Restrictions, 22 Carlisle Place, Westminster, London S.W.

Cheese.
Fuses, fuse components and parts.
Motor spirit (including aviation spirit), kerosene (including white spirit), gas oil, fuel oil, and distillates from which any of the preceding can be produced.
Sugar-cane.
Treadle lathes of 3 in. centres and over.
Cocaine, including ecgonine and any substance, whether preparation, admixture, extract, or otherwise, containing 0·1 per cent. (one part in a thousand) or more of cocaine or ecgonine, or of any salt or derivative thereof.
Opium—i.e., raw opium, powdered or granulated opium, opium prepared for smoking, and any solid or semi-solid mixture containing opium.
Canes of all descriptions, unmanufactured or manufactured, not otherwise prohibited.
Crabs, prawns, shrimps, and oysters, canned.
Red prussiate of potash.
Cassia.
Lignea fibre.
Flax-seed for sowing.
Pimento.
Spectacles and eye-glasses complete.
Time-recording instruments of all kinds, and movements and parts thereof.
Watches and parts thereof.

INVERCARGILL BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

I HEREBY give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Invercargill was taken on the 6th day of September, 1918, upon a proposal to raise a special loan of £8,000 for additions and improvements to the electric light and power works of the borough: and that the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 303, and the number of votes against the proposal was 357.

I therefore declare the proposal rejected.

MANGAORONGO ROAD BOARD.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the Road District of Mangaorongo was held at Maihihi on the 7th day of August, 1918, on the proposal of the Mangaorongo Road Board to borrow the sum of £3,000 for metalling the main road.

The number of votes recorded were—for the proposal, 26; against the proposal, 3.

I therefore declare the proposal duly carried.

NELSON HARBOUR BOARD.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Nelson Harbour Board District taken on the 25th day of September, 1918, to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £103,000 for the purchase of the Nelson Wharves and other properties, as described in the Nelson Harbour Board Empowering Act, 1917, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 982, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 513.

There being more than three-fifths of the valid votes polled in favour of the proposal, I declare the proposal to be carried.

BOROUGH OF ELTHAM.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Eltham taken on the 20th day of September, 1918, upon the proposal of the Eltham Borough Council to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £10,000, for the purpose of repairs, alterations, extensions, &c., to septic-tank purification system and mains, and purchase of land for street widening, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 153, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 20.

I therefore declare the proposal carried.
