I, GEORGE KYNASTON COCKERILL, C.B., a Brigadier-General in His Majesty’s Army, being a person authorized by a Secretary of State to give certificates under paragraph 3 of the Trading with the Enemy (Occupied Territory) Proclamation, 1915, hereby certify that in addition to the territory comprised in the certificate given by me on the 9th May, 1918, the following territory in Russia may be regarded as territory in hostile occupation :—

The Province of the Don Cossacks.
Kutais.

The territory in Russia which may be regarded as in hostile occupation comprises—

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the Waimairi County Council, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

WAIMAIRI COUNTY COUNCIL.

Notice of Results of Polls on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give you notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Waimairi Special Area, Marshland, Avon, Styx, and Belfast Ridings, taken on the 27th August, 1918, on the proposal of the Waimairi County Council to borrow the sum of £7,000 for electric lighting, the result was as follows: Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 142; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 37.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give you notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Waimairi for the Special Electric Area taken on the 27th August, 1918, on the proposal of the Waimairi County Council to borrow the sum of £7,000 for electric lighting, the result was as follows: Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 177; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 19.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Tauranga County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

TAURANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby notify that the following is the result of a poll of ratepayers of the Waimapu Special Rating Area taken on the 3rd day of August, 1918, on the proposal to borrow a sum of £1,500 for the purpose of metalling the main Tauranga–Waihi and Tauranga–Matamata Roads in the Waimapu Special Rating Area, and for quarrying, breaking, carting, carrying, and spreading the metal, and preparing the road therefor.

Number of valid votes recorded, 55. For the proposal, 37; against, 18.

The number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal being more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Horowhenua County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

HOROWHENUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Te Horo Riding of the Horowhenua County was taken on the 20th day of August, 1918, on the proposal of the Horowhenua County Council to borrow the sum of £1,000 for the following purposes: New passing-span, Otaki Bridge, and asphalting said bridge, £450; about two miles of road-construction between Te Horo and Waikanae, £450; bridge over Mangaone Stream, £100.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 122, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 7.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Mangonui County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

MANGONUI COUNTY COUNCIL.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Mangonui taken on the 24th day of August, 1918, on the proposal of the Mangonui County Council to borrow the sum of eight thousand pounds for (a) making new roads, culverts, and general road improvements and metalling from Awanui to Waikuku Bridge, Kaitaia, £6,000; and (b) for the erection of breastworks and the construction and metalling of Beach Road, Mangonui, £2,000, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 252, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 121.

I therefore declare that the said proposal was carried.
