FINES.
If the licensee fails or neglects,—
(a.) To use or maintain the said works, after completion,
so as to secure the full benefit of the undertaking;
or
(b.) To observe any of the conditions or obligations herein
imposed,
then and in every such case the licensee shall be liable to a
fine of £20 for every week or part of a week during which such
default or neglect continues; or the Governor-General may
by Order in Council revoke this license. -
SERVICE OF NOTICE.
Notwithstanding anything in the last preceding clause,
this license shall not be revoked, and no proceedings shall
be taken for the recovery of a fine in respect of a breach
thereof, unless and until notice in writing of the intention so
to revoke the license or to take such proceedings has been
served upon the licensee, or placed upon such principal or
conspicuous part of the works, and default has been made
by the licensee in repairing or remedying the breach or
breaches specified in the said notice for the following periods :—
(a.) For any breach which in the opinion of the Governor-
General can be met by a fine, for thirty days after the service
of such notice.
(b.) For any breach which in the opinion of the Governor-
General is of such a nature as to require the revocation of
this license, for ninety days after the service of such notice. -
VARIATION IN CONDITIONS OF LICENSE.
The terms and conditions of this license may at any time,
or from time to time, at the request or with the consent in
writing of the licensee, be altered by the Governor-General
by Order in Council. -
SURRENDER OF LICENSE.
The licensee may at any time, with the consent of the
Minister, surrender this license, and shall thereupon, if so
required by the Minister, remove from the ground all remov-
able equipment, machinery, buildings, poles, transmission-
lines, and other plant herein authorized to be installed or
provided. If the licensee fails or neglects so to remove the
said plant within twelve months after being required so to
do, such equipment, machinery, building, poles, lines, and
other plant shall without payment or compensation vest in
and become the property of the Crown. -
SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.
The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph
(b) of clause 2 of the regulations.
The generating voltage shall be approximately 500 volts
between the terminals. -
DATUM TEMPERATURE.
For the purposes of calculating stresses as provided in
clause 12 of the regulations, the datum temperature shall be
taken as 12 degrees Fahrenheit. -
NOTICES RE RESULTS OF TESTS, ETC.
Records of results of tests (Regulation 37), and notices re
commencement of work (Regulation 44) and alterations
(Regulation 49), should be sent to the Electrical Engineer
at present stationed at Christchurch, and to the Telegraph
Engineer of the district, or his deputy, at present stationed at
Christchurch.

License authorizing the Petone Borough Council to lay or erect
an Electric Line along and under a Portion of Heretaunga
Street to the Borough Council’s Motor-garage in the Borough
of Petone.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this tenth day
of September, 1918.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section two of the Public Works Amend-
ment Act, 1911, it is provided that no person shall
lay, construct place, put up, or use any electric line except
under the authority of a license issued by the Governor-
General in Council under that Act ;
And whereas the Petone Borough Council (hereinafter
referred to as “the licensee”) desires to erect lines within
the area of supply as defined in the Schedule hereto, and
hereinafter called “the said electric line,” and it is expedient
accordingly to issue a license in respect thereof under the
said section :
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred upon him by the said section, and of all other
powers in anywise enabling him in that behalf, His Excel-
lency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth, subject to the conditions
set forth in the Schedule hereto, and to the regulations made
under section two of the aforesaid Act and published in the
New Zealand Gazette dated the twenty-ninth day of April,
one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and hereinafter
referred to as “the regulations,” hereby authorize the licensee
to erect and maintain electric lines for lighting, power, and
heating purposes along the route described in the Schedule
hereto.
SCHEDULE.

THE ROUTE OF THE ELECTRIC LINE AUTHORIZED.
ALL that route commencing in William Street at the junction
of that street with Heretaunga Street, and proceeding thence
across part of William Street, and thence along portion of
Heretaunga Street to the Petone Borough Council’s motor-
garage fronting Heretaunga Street. As the said route is
more particularly delineated by means of a red line on the
plan marked P.W.D. 44529, deposited in the office of the
Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Land District
of Wellington. -
SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.
The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (g)
of clause 2 of the regulations.
The generating voltage shall be approximately 550 volts
between the terminals. -
DATUM TEMPERATURE.
For the purpose of calculating the stresses as provided in
clause 12 of the regulations, the datum temperature shall be
taken as 20 degrees Fahrenheit. -
DURATION OF LICENSE.
This license shall, unless sooner determined in accordance
with the provisions hereinafter expressed, continue in force
for a period of forty-two years from the date hereof. Upon
the expiry of the said term, or upon the sooner determination
of this license by revocation or otherwise, all rights hereby
granted to the licensee shall thereupon cease and determine ;
but such expiration or determination shall not relieve the
licensee of any liability theretofore incurred under this license.

Revoking the Vesting in “The Riccarton Public Library” of
a Public Library Reserve in Block X, Christchurch Survey
District, Canterbury Land District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this tenth day of
September, 1918.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
has been duly vested in “The Riccarton Public
Library,” in trust, as a reserve for a public library, by
an Order in Council dated the twenty-eighth day of June,
one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, and published
in Gazette of the sixth day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and ninety-nine, in pursuance of section four of the Public
Reserves Act, 1881, but a certificate of title has not issued
in respect of the said reserve :
And whereas it is expedient that the said Order in Council
should be revoked, and the trustees of the said library have
duly consented to such revocation :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
and in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon him by subsection two of section three of the
Public Reserves and Domains Amendment Act, 1914, doth
hereby revoke the Order in Council hereinbefore referred to.
