CAUTION WITH REGARD TO EXTINCTION OF LIGHTS.—CERTAIN PORTS CLOSED BY NIGHT.

Former notice hereby cancelled.

1. The lights at the following places have been extinguished :—
   Jibuti and vicinity (except Ras al Bir); ——— ——; Penang ——— —— approaches; ——— ——.

All lights in the Persian Gulf and on the coasts of India, Ceylon, and the Bay of Bengal are liable to be extinguished without notice. ——— ——

2. Certain ports closed by night :—
   Vessels are prohibited from entering the Port of Massawa between sunset and 6.0 a.m., and they should not approach the port between these hours.
   Vessels are prohibited from entering the Ports of Panjim and Marmagao in Portuguese India between sunset and sunrise. Vessels will be permitted to leave subject to permission being obtained from the Captain of the Port.

Note.—This notice is a revision of the former notice.

ARGENTINA.

NUEVO GULF ENTRANCE.—NINFAS POINT LIGHT.—ALTERATION IN PERIOD.

Position.—Lat. 42° 58½′ S., long. 64° 19¼′ W.

New Abridged Description.—Lt. fl., ev. 5 secs., 289 ft., vis. 12 m. (U.), (posn. approx.).

Alteration.—The period of the flashing white light has been altered from fifteen seconds to five seconds, thus: Flash 0·3 sec., eclipse 4·7 secs.

SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN.

PHŒNIX GROUP.—MCKEAN ISLAND.—POSITION.

The master of a Danish motor-ship reports that McKean Island is located 14 miles eastward of its charted position.

Good sights were obtained for latitude at noon and for longitude when passing within 5 miles of the island.

The chronometer was later checked by radio time-signal from San Francisco and found to be correct.

Approximate position as charted: 3° 35′ 10″ S., 174° 16′ 0″ W.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

• Weighted with £40, valuation for house and fencing.

DESCRIPTION.

Those sections under five acres consist of level agricultural land of good quality. Sections 2, 6, 7, Block XXI, and 1 and 5, Block XXXII, are also suitable for agricultural purposes; and Sections 7, 8, 11, Block XXXII, are suitable for grazing only.

ABSTRACT OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

1. Term, twenty-one years from 1st January, 1919.
2. Right of cultivation, but no valuation for improvements.
3. No right of renewal.
4. A deposit of one year’s rent at the rate offered, and licence fee (£1 ls.), must be paid on the fall of the hammer.
5. No assignment or sublease without consent.
6. Lease is liable to forfeiture if conditions are violated.
