Education Board of the District of Nelson.—Election of Members.

IN accordance with the provisions of the Education Act, 1914, I hereby notify that Messrs. T. Symes, F. W. O. Smith, A. C. Cottrell, and E. E. Boyes have been duly elected members of the Education Board of the District of Nelson, representing the North Ward, East Ward, West Ward of the Rural Area, and the Nelson City Urban Area respectively.

For the North Ward the number of valid votes recorded for each candidate was as follows :—

Symes, Thomas .. .. .. 120
Harkness, William Dickson .. .. 31

Total number of valid votes recorded, 151.
Total number of votes rejected as informal, nil.

For the East Ward the number of valid votes recorded for each candidate was as follows :—

Smith, Frederick William Oscar .. 180
Bredbury, John .. .. .. 57

Total number of valid votes recorded, 237.
Total number of votes rejected as informal, nil.

For the West Ward the number of valid votes recorded for each candidate was as follows :—

Cottrell, Anthony Crispe .. .. 45
McIntyre, William Henderson .. .. 43

Total number of valid votes recorded, 88.
Total number of votes rejected as informal, nil.

For the Nelson City Urban Area Mr. Ernest Edward Boyes was elected unopposed.

Education Board of the District of Canterbury.—Election of Members.

TIMARU URBAN AREA AND RURAL AREA, SOUTH WARD.

IN pursuance of the provisions of the Education Act, 1914, and regulations made thereunder, I hereby give notice that John Maze and no other person has been duly nominated in respect of the Timaru Urban Area, and that Thomas Hughes and no other person has been duly nominated in respect of the South Ward of the Rural Area.

I therefore declare the said John Maze and the said Thomas Hughes to be duly elected members of the Education Board of the District of Canterbury for the Timaru Urban Area and South Ward respectively.

RURAL AREA, MIDDLE WARD.

In pursuance of the provisions of the Education Act, 1914, and its amendments, and in accordance with regulation No. 16 (Election of Members of Education Boards), it is hereby notified that William Pritchard Spencer has been duly elected member of the Education Board of the District of Canterbury in respect of the Middle Ward (to fill the extraordinary vacancy caused by the retirement of Mr. T. W. Adams).

The number of votes recorded in favour of the several candidates was :—

Spencer, William Pritchard .. .. 176
Lawry, Rev. Samuel .. .. .. 104
Thacker, John Robert.. .. .. 84

The total number of valid votes was 364.
The total number of invalid votes was 9.

In pursuance of the provisions of the Education Act, 1914, and its amendments, and in accordance with regulation No. 16 (Election of Members of Education Boards), it is hereby notified that William Alexander Banks has been duly elected member of the Education Board of the District of Canterbury in respect of the Middle Ward.

The number of votes recorded in favour of the several candidates was—

Banks, William Alexander .. .. 286
Norton, Frederick George .. .. 69

The total number of valid votes was 355.
The total number of invalid votes was 12.

IN accordance with the Second Schedule to the Education Act, 1914, it is hereby notified that the following persons have been duly elected members of the Education Board of the District of Otago :—

North Ward— Borrie, Donald.
South Ward— McKinlay, Parker.
Central Ward— Smith, James.
Urban Area— Brugh, William Robert.
Wilkinson, James Henry.

The numbers of votes recorded in favour of the respective candidates were as follows :—

North Ward—

Walsh, Thomas .. .. .. 27

Total valid votes, 222 ; informal votes, 3.

South Ward— Parker McKinlay was returned unopposed.

Central Ward— James Smith was returned unopposed.

Urban Area— William Robert Brugh and James Henry Wilkinson were returned unopposed.

IN accordance with the provisions of the Education Act, 1914, it is hereby publicly notified that the following persons have been duly elected as members of the Education Board of the District of Southland :—

Invercargill Urban Area— Frederick William Gresham.
East Ward— Adam John Nichol.
West Ward— John Findlay.
Central Ward— Philip Aldborough de la Perelle.

The number of votes recorded in favour of the respective candidates was as follows :—

Invercargill Urban Area—

Stevens, George Tom .. .. .. 17

The total number of valid votes recorded was 42.
The number of votes rejected as informal was 2.

East Ward—
Nichol, Adam John .. .. .. 117

The total number of valid votes recorded was 221.
The number of votes rejected as informal was 2.

It is further notified that for the West and Central Wards the candidates declared elected were the only ones nominated.

The Public Service Classification and Superannuation Act, 1908.—Election of a Member of the Public Service Superannuation Board to represent Contributors belonging to the Post and Telegraph Department.

(a.) Wreck :
Position.—On Zebra Flats. Lat. 53° 32′ 35″ N., long. 3° 11′ 41″ W.
Description.—Sunken wreck of a vessel.

(b.) Buoy :
Position.—At a distance of about 70 yards, westward, from the wreck.
Description.—A green wreck-marking buoy.

SOUTH COAST. — LYME BAY. — STRAIGHT POINT. — WRECK SOUTH-EASTWARD OF.

Position (approximate).—At a distance of about 5¾ miles, south-eastward, from Straight Point. Lat. 50° 31′ 45″ N., long. 3° 16′ 15″ W.
Description.—A sunken wreck.
