Board, during the present war with Germany, to borrow or contract to borrow any money (otherwise than by way of bank overdraft within the limit of its powers, if any, in that behalf), whether from the State Advances Office or from any other source whatever, and whether in pursuance of a special Act or under any other authority whatever, without the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council:

And whereas application has been made for the consent of the Governor-General in Council to enable the several local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto to borrow the sums set opposite the names of the said local authorities respectively, for the several purposes specified in the said Schedule, from the State Advances Office:

And whereas it is expedient that the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council should issue:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the borrowing from the State Advances Office of the loans hereinafter mentioned by the several local authorities set out in the Schedule hereto for the purposes specified in the said Schedule; and it is hereby declared that this Order in Council is made under the provisions in that behalf of the Appropriation Act, 1915, and shall operate accordingly as a consent of the Governor-General in Council to the raising of the loans hereby authorized.

SCHEDULE.

Awakino County Council, £190: For completing the formation of and for widening, culverting, and metalling a portion of the main Te Kuiti–Awakino Road.

Elstow Drainage Board, £500: For completing the construction of drainage-works.

Helensville Town Board, £1,400: For providing the Board’s share of the cost of constructing a bridge over the Kaipara River.

Matamata County Council, £1,000: For constructing drainage-works in the Whararoa Special-drainage Area.

Waitoa Drainage Board, £5,000: For constructing drainage-works in the Waitoa Number 2 Special-rating Area.

Wharepapa Road Board, £5,000: For metalling roads.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this thirtieth day of January, 1918.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.

WHEREAS by section nine of the Mining Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time by Order in Council appoint fit persons to be Wardens, who shall hold office during the Governor-General’s pleasure:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by the said section nine of the Mining Act, 1908, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion doth hereby appoint

JOHN LOGAN STOUT

to be a Warden, to hold and exercise the duties of such office under and subject to the provisions of the said Act during pleasure on and from the first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

Prohibiting the Exportation of Live Pigs.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this thirty-first day of January, 1918.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.

WHEREAS by section forty-seven of the Customs Act, 1913, as extended by section twenty-four of the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Act, 1914, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in Council gazetted, prohibit the exportation of any goods the prohibition of the exportation of which is, in his opinion, necessary in the public interest:

And whereas in the opinion of the Governor-General it is necessary in the public interest that the exportation of live pigs should be prohibited to the extent and in the manner hereinafter appearing:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section forty-seven of the Customs Act, 1913, and section twenty-four of the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Act, 1914, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion, doth hereby prohibit the exportation of live pigs from the said Dominion save with the consent of the Minister of Customs.

Prohibiting the Exportation of Manures of every Description.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this thirty-first day of January, 1918.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.

WHEREAS by section forty-seven of the Customs Act, 1913, as extended by section twenty-four of the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Act, 1914, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in Council gazetted, prohibit the exportation of any goods the prohibition of the exportation of which is in his opinion necessary in the public interest:

And whereas in the opinion of the Governor-General it is necessary in the public interest that the exportation of manures of every description should be prohibited to the extent and in the manner hereinafter appearing:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section forty-seven of the Customs Act, 1913, and section twenty-four of the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Act, 1914, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion, doth hereby prohibit the exportation of manures of every description from the said Dominion, save with the consent of the Minister of Customs.

Duty on certain Tobacco imported into the Cook Islands.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this thirtieth day of January, 1918.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.

WHEREAS by section three hundred and two of the Customs Act, 1913, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time by Order in Council modify the tariff in its application to goods imported into the Cook Islands, but so that such modification shall not have the effect of imposing higher duties than those imposed by the tariff:

And whereas by Order in Council dated the nineteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-second day of June, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, the tariff was modified in its application to certain tobacco imported into the Cook Islands:

And whereas it is expedient to amend the modification of the tariff contained in the said Order in Council of the nineteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section three hundred and two of the Customs Act, 1913, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Dominion of New Zealand, doth hereby
