Revoking the Naturalization of Anton Middendorf.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this sixteenth day of July, 1918.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS letters of naturalization were issued to Anton Middendorf on the thirty-first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and six: And whereas the Governor-General in Council is satisfied that it is expedient for the welfare of the Realm to revoke the naturalization of the said Anton Middendorf:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Revocation of Naturalization Act, 1917, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that the naturalization of the said Anton Middendorf shall be revoked, and that the said Anton Middendorf shall cease to be a British subject naturalized in New Zealand as from the first day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this sixteenth day of July, 1918.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section nine of the Mining Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time by Order in Council appoint fit persons to be Wardens, who shall hold office during the Governor-General’s pleasure:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by the said section nine of the Mining Act, 1908, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint

JOHN EDWARD WILSON

to be a Warden, to hold and exercise the duties of such office under and subject to the provisions of the said Act during pleasure on and from the first day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

Validating Proceedings in connection with a Loan of £2,500 proposed to be raised by the Matamata County Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this sixteenth day of July, 1918.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the Matamata County Council, acting under and in pursuance of paragraph (e) of section sixteen of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, lately proposed to raise a loan of two thousand five hundred pounds for the purpose of metalling a road in the Horahora Special-rating Area:

And whereas the ratepayers’ consent given under paragraph (e) of section sixteen aforesaid is irregular in that two of the subscribing ratepayers have attested the signatures of the other subscribers thereto:

And whereas it appears that the ratepayers have not been misled by the said irregularity and it is expedient to validate the same:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section one hundred and eleven of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the ratepayers’ consent to the raising of the said loan shall be valid to all intents and purposes as though the same had been properly witnessed, and that the validity of the proceedings in connection with the said loan shall not be called into question by reason only of the irregularity aforesaid.

Validating Election of Members of Upper Wangaehu Road Board.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this sixteenth day of July, 1918.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the annual election for the three vacancies on the Upper Wangaehu Road Board created under section thirty-three of the Road Boards Act, 1908, which should have been held in the first week of May, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, was by inadvertence overlooked:

And whereas as soon as the said omission was discovered the Returning Officer gave public notice of the election to fill the said vacancies on the eighth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, and in such notice appointed the fourteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, for the nomination of candidates for such election:

And whereas on the said fourteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, the nominations of Daniel Addis, Thomas Bradley, and George Dalton Goodrick were received, and as the number of candidates did not exceed the number of vacancies to be filled, the Returning Officer did on that day publicly declare the said DANIEL ADDIS, THOMAS BRADLEY, and GEORGE DALTON GOODRICK to be duly elected:

And whereas it is expedient to validate the said election:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section one hundred and seventy-one of the Road Boards Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby validate the said election of the said candidates so declared to have been elected as members of the Upper Wangaehu Road Board.

Amending Scale of Dues and Rates for Use of Wharf at Waitangi, Chatham Islands.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this ninth day of July, 1918.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE W. H. HERRIES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the eighth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 88, of the eleventh day of the same month, the management of the wharf at Waitangi, Chatham Islands, was vested in the persons named therein as trustees for the inhabitants of the district, and dues and rates were prescribed for the use of the said wharf:

And whereas it is desirable to revoke the said dues and rates, and prescribe others in lieu thereof:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power conferred upon him by the Harbours Act, 1908, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the dues and rates prescribed in the Second Schedule of the said Order in Council of the eighth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, and doth hereby prescribe that the dues and rates set forth in the Schedule hereto
