Board, during the present war with Germany, to borrow or contract to borrow any money (otherwise than by way of bank overdraft within the limit of its powers, if any, in that behalf), whether from the State Advances Office or from any other source whatever, and whether in pursuance of a special Act or under any other authority whatever, without the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council:

And whereas application has been made for the consent of the Governor-General in Council to enable the several local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto to borrow the sums set opposite the names of the said local authorities respectively, for the several purposes specified in the said Schedule, from the State Advances Office:

And whereas it is expedient that the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council should issue:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the borrowing from the State Advances Office of the loans hereinafter mentioned by the several local authorities set out in the Schedule hereto for the purposes specified in the said Schedule; and it is hereby declared that this Order in Council is made under the provisions in that behalf of the Appropriation Act, 1915, and shall operate accordingly as a consent of the Governor-General in Council to the raising of the loans hereby authorized.

SCHEDULE.

Ohinemuri County Council, £5,000: For forming and metalling roads in the Elstow Special-rating Area.

Rangitikei County Council, £100: For completing the work of metalling the Pukemapou Road.

Waitemata County Council, £690: For completing the construction of roads in the Mairetahi Riding.

Otamatea County Council, £5,000: For forming and metalling roads in the Mareretu Riding.

Freshfield Drainage Board, £150: For completing the work of widening, deepening, and improving the main drains of the district.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the Valuation of Land Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and direct that the district valuation rolls for the districts enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be revised by the Valuer-General as at the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this seventh day of January, 1918.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE W. F. MASSEY, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the portions of roads described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become Government roads.
