BY-LAWS.

HOURS.

  1. THE bush shall be open daily from 1 p.m. to sunset. On the following holidays the bush shall be open from 10 a.m. to sunset—viz., Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Monday, and Labour Day.

CHILDREN.

  1. Children under twelve will not be admitted, unless accompanied by some responsible person.

FIREARMS.

  1. No person shall take any firearms or any instruments of a dangerous character within the limits of the bush, except with the permission in writing of the Board.

FIRES.

  1. No person shall light any fire within the limits of the bush, except with the permission of the Board.

DOGS.

  1. No person shall bring any dog into the bush.

BICYCLES.

  1. No person shall take any bicycle into the bush.

PARCELS.

  1. No person shall carry parcels of any kind into the bush, unless permitted to do so by the Ranger.

INJURY TO THE BUSH.

  1. No person shall injure any tree, shrub, fern, or plant, or wilfully take or injure any bird or animal in the bush, or in any way do damage to the bush.

DISORDERLY PERSONS.

  1. No disorderly person, vagrant, or person of bad repute shall be allowed within the limits of the bush.

REFUSE LITTER.

  1. No person shall leave bottles, glass, paper, or other litter within the limits of the bush, except in receptacles especially provided for the purpose.

KEEPING TO THE PATHS.

  1. All persons visiting the bush shall keep to the paths provided.

SALE OF GOODS.

  1. No person shall sell or offer for sale any article of merchandise, or carry on any trade, within the limits of the bush without the permission in writing of the Board.

ASSEMBLAGES.

  1. No sports, games, or meetings of any sort shall be held within the limits of the bush without the permission in writing of the Board.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Torr, Mapau, and Awaroa Streets, and Ruapo Road, in the Town of Ruawai Extension No. 1, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I hereby authorize the laying-off of Torr, Mapau, and Awaroa Streets, and Ruapo Road, in the Town of Ruawai Extension No. 1, Auckland Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. instead of 99 ft.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists’ Shops in the City of Dunedin, under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops in the City of Dunedin, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 6 p.m., Friday at 9.30 p.m., and Saturday at 9 p.m.—except (1) on the two working-days immediately preceding Christmas Eve, when the closing-hours shall be 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9.30 p.m. on Friday, and 9 p.m. on Saturday, subject to the closing at not later than 1 o’clock p.m. for the statutory half-holiday; (2) on Christmas and New Year’s Eves, when the closing-hours shall be 11 p.m.; and (3) during Winter Show week, when the closing-hours shall be 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9.30 p.m. on Friday, and 9 p.m. on Saturday, subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. for the statutory half-holiday:

And whereas the Dunedin City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops within the City of Dunedin:

Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 5th day of June, 1917, all chemists’ shops in the City of Dunedin shall be closed accordingly.

Pursuant to subsection (4) of the said section, and to subsection (c) of section 18 of the said Act, nothing in this notice shall permit any such shop to remain open after the hour of 1 p.m. on the day observed as the weekly half-holiday, except for the sale of medicines and surgical appliances that are urgently required; provided that such shops may, pursuant to subsection (d) of section 18 of the said Act, reopen on the day observed as the weekly half-holiday from 7 to 9 p.m. only for the sale of medicines and surgical appliances.

The notice gazetted on the 12th day of October, 1916, is hereby cancelled.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Blocks VII and VIII, Ngautuku, and II, Ateamuri Survey Districts, for Road Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Blocks VII and VIII, Ngautuku, and II, Ateamuri Survey Districts; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Atiamuri, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
