use:—

After passing the fairway buoy, steer S.E. by E. ½ E.

hand. Two white skeleton towers will then be seen at Day-
man Point; bring these into line on a bearing of S. 26° E.,

CUVIER ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE SIGNALLING.

———

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 22nd May, 1917.

SEVERAL masters of oversea ships from Panama to
Auckland have recently been making the mistake of
thinking that Cuvier Island is a signal-station with telegraphic
communication with the mainland; this is not so, as there
is no telegraphic communication with the mainland.

They should instead, when coming to Auckland, com-
unicate with Tiritiri Signal-station.

Charts, &c., effected.—Admiralty Charts Nos. 3565 and
1998; “New Zealand Pilot,” eighth edition, 1908, Chapters ii
and iv, pages 34 and 99.
