Appointing a Member of the Thames Harbour Board.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
WHEREAS it is provided by the eleventh section of the Harbours Amendment Act, 1910, that if any constituent district or combined district fails at any election to elect the required number of representatives the Governor may, by Warrant under his hand, appoint such qualified persons as he thinks fit to be the representatives of that district in lieu of those who ought to have been elected; and the persons so appointed shall hold office in all respects as if they had been duly elected in conformity with the said Act: And whereas one member of the Thames Harbour Board hould have been elected by the electors of the County of Ohinemuri: And whereas the County of Ohinemuri failed to elect a member:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the hereinbefore-recited power and authority, doth hereby appoint
SAMUEL JAMIESON LAUGHLIN
to be a member of the Thames Harbour Board as a representative of the electors of the County of Ohinemuri, to fill the vacancy caused by the before-mentioned failure to elect.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.

Declaring a Road-line through Land in Te Miro Settlement, Auckland Land District, to be closed.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
WHEREAS a report has been received from the Surveyor-General, from which it appears that the road described in the Schedule hereto is unformed and unused, and that the said road intersects land acquired under the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and is not suitable to the subdivision of such land:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of section eighty of the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do by this notice hereby close the road hereinafter described; and I do hereby declare that the said road shall thereupon become subject to the said Act.

(Auckland Plan No. 19512, blue.)

Lands temporarily reserved in the Auckland and Wellington Land Districts.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
And whereas by the sixty-ninth section of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, it is further provided that the Governor may from time to time, as he thinks fit, set aside reserves for any specified public purpose out of land acquired under the last-mentioned Act, provided that no land so acquired shall be set aside for endowments:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Acts, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Auckland and Wellington Land Districts described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 roods, more or less, being Sections 5 and 6, Block I, Patetonga Village. Bounded towards the north-west by Section 4, Block I, Patetonga Village; towards the north-east by Section 3 of the said Block I; towards the south-east by Tainui Street; and towards the south-west by a public road to the point of commencement. For an addition to a site for a public school.
Also all that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood 2 perches, more or less, being Section 13, Block XII, Kawhia North Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by E.R. Section 2 in the said Block XII, 335·3 links; towards the north-east by Section 6, Block XII aforesaid, 130·6 links; towards the south-east generally by portion of the aforesaid Section 2, and a public road, 189·2 and 250·8 links respectively: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 16/371, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (Auckland Plan No. 19493.) For an endowment for primary education.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.
All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 7 acres 3 roods, more or less, being Lots 1 and 2, Melling Settlement, part of Section 75, Hutt District, Block VIII, Belmont Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by the Wellington-Wairarapa Railway, 1902 links; towards the north-east by Melling Street, 848·4 links; towards the south-east generally by a reserve 15 links wide along the bank of the Hutt River to the eastern side of the Ballast Railway, and thence by the bank of the Hutt River; and towards the south-west generally by other part of Section 75 aforesaid, 388·5 and 99·9 links, by the abutment of a stop-bank, 12·7, 14·8, and 29·3 links, again by other part of Section 75 aforesaid, 161·6 links, and by the abutment of Stilling Street, 100·5 links: save and excepting that portion of the ballast railway which crosses the above-described area: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 19341, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For Post and Telegraph purposes.

Notifying the Proposed Exchange of National Endowment Land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District for other Land.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
WHEREAS by section sixteen of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1912, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, whenever he deems it expedient in the public interest so to do, to grant in fee-simple any area of national endowment land in exchange for the fee-simple of any other land which in his opinion is of approximately equal value, and on any such exchange to pay or receive by way of equality of exchange any sum not exceeding twenty-five per centum of the estimated value of the national endowment land so granted: Provided that the power thereby conferred shall be exercisable only on the recommendation of the Board of Land Purchase Commissioners under the Land for Settlements Act, 1908:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to exchange the national endowment land described in the First Schedule hereto for the land described in the Second
