In pursuance of the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, approves the foregoing regulations.

Approved in Council this twenty-fourth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.

Amendments and Additions to the Regulations under the Public Service Act, 1912.
IN pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred on him by the Public Service Act, 1912 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), the Commissioner, with the approval of the Governor in Council, doth hereby, in respect of the regulations made under the said Act on the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, and the amendments thereof, make the amendments shown in the Schedule hereto, and doth also make the additional regulations set forth in the said Schedule.
Such amendments and additional regulations shall, except as hereinafter otherwise provided, have effect from and after the date of the publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATION No. 164 is hereby revoked, and the following regulation inserted in lieu thereof:—
LIMITATION OF CHOICE OF APPOINTMENTS.
- Appointments will be made according to the order of merit in the list of applicants who have passed the Entrance Examination: Provided that if any person is available and otherwise eligible who has at any time passed the Civil Service Senior Examination, or the examination hereinafter called the Senior Examination, or the Matriculation Examination of the New Zealand University, although in any of these cases he may not have passed the Entrance Examination, he shall take precedence over candidates who have
