Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid powers and authorities, doth hereby declare that it is his intention to grant in fee-simple the area of Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto in exchange for the fee-simple of the land described in the Second Schedule upon payment by the owner thereof of the sum of money hereinbefore referred to by way of equality of exchange.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF CROWN LAND AUTHORIZED TO BE EXCHANGED.
ALL those areas in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement a total of 783 acres 0 roods 19 perches, more or less, being Section 2, Block IX, Patoka Survey District, containing 435 acres 2 roods; Section 3, Block IX aforesaid, containing 59 acres 2 roods; and Section 1, Block X, Kuripapanga Survey District, containing 288 acres 0 roods 19 perches. As the same are delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/44, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE THEREFOR.
ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 3,495 acres, more or less, being Lot 1 on plan No. 3282, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Napier, and situated in Blocks III and VI, Kuripapanga Survey District, and Blocks I and V, Patoka Survey District. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/44, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered green.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fifth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.

Opening Settlement Lands in Auckland Land District for Selection by Discharged Soldiers.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and amendments, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto which have been set apart for selection by discharged soldiers shall be open for selection by discharged soldiers on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-fifth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Waipa County.—Reynolds Settlement.
SECTION 17: Area, 94 acres 2 roods 35 perches; capital value, £1,220; half-yearly rent, £27 9s.
Section 18: Area, 85 acres 1 rood 29 perches; capital value, £1,180; half-yearly rent, £26 11s.
Improvements included in capital value: Section 17—thirty-six chains boundary fence (half value), thirty-seven chains boundary drain; value, £27 10s. Section 18—forty chains boundary fence (half value), and wooden trough; value, £12.
Level land, formerly swamp, partly drained, covered with short manuka and fern and a little grass. Soil of a good quality, being a peaty loam, more or less consolidated; no surface water in summer, but water can be obtained by sinking. Distant about five miles and a half from Cambridge, of which about four miles is by Cambridge—Roto-o-rangi Road; balance unformed, but passable for wheeled traffic in summer-time.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waitakaruru Settlement.—Piako Survey District.
Section 5, Block III: Area, 125 acres 3 roods; capital value, £350; half-yearly rent, £7 17s. 6d.
Undulating land, covered with scrubby manuka and fern. Clay soil, of only moderate quality, on sandstone formation; poorly watered by small streams in gullies. Distant about six miles from Waitakaruru Landing by formed cart-road.
Matamata County.—Patetere Survey District.—Selwyn Settlement.
Section 107, Block VII: Area, 193 acres 1 rood 25 perches; capital value, £300; half-yearly rent, £6 15s.
Weighted with £186, valuation for improvements comprising about 135 chains of fencing, about 30 acres grassed, and 1 acre ploughed, also a one-span totara bridge.
Undulating land, about 30 acres ploughed and grassed, balance open fern and tea-tree land. Soil of a light and sandy nature, well watered by permanent stream. Distant about four miles from Putaruru Railway-station by a good dray-road, the greater part being metalled.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Waitemata County.—Waipareira Parish.
SECTION 258: Area, 12 acres 0 roods 20 perches; capital value, £140; half-yearly rent, £2 16s.
Altitude, 100 ft. to 250 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land, all ploughable, covered with manuka and fern. Soil a stiff loam, on clay subsoil; poorly watered, but water can be obtained by sinking. Distant about three miles from Henderson by good cart-road, two miles and three-quarters of which is metalled.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Rotorua County.—Waihi South Survey District.
Section 10, Block IX: Area, 693 acres 1 rood 33 perches; capital value, £390; half-yearly rent, £7 16s.
Weighted with £225, valuation for improvements comprising shed, ploughing, grassing, fencing, and well.
Altitude, 300 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken land, covered with manuka and fern. Soil of a poor quality, of poor sandy pumice nature, on pumice formation; poorly watered by streams on east and west boundaries. Distant fourteen miles from Paengaroa Village by formed road.
Bay of Islands County.—Omapere Survey District.
Sections 2 and 3, Block III: Area, 665 acres 1 rood 12 perches; capital value, £450; half-yearly rent, £9.
Weighted with £30, valuation for thirty chains fencing.
Altitude, from 800 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land, covered with scrub and fern. Clay soil, on sandstone formation; well watered. Situated about twelve miles from Kerikeri by fair road.
