ticulars of all sums deducted in any month which are not the ordinary deductions for that month—i.e., he shall specify whether such sums are—
(a.) Arrears of contributions; or
(b.) Deductions from additional payments to contributors for the management or instruction of manual and technical and teachers’ training classes under the Education Act, 1914; or
(c.) Interest on arrears of contributions;
and he shall also specify in each instance the relative period of time on account of which each sum has been deducted.

Payment of Contributions when not actively employed.

  1. Every contributor whose salary is for any reason temporarily stopped or who for any period is on leave of absence without salary or at a reduced salary, and every contributor who is temporarily unemployed in the Education service but has not retired therefrom, shall, during the period in respect of which his salary is so stopped or reduced, or during the period of his temporary unemployment (as the case may be), in his discretion—
    (a.) Continue to contribute to the Fund in the same manner as if his salary had not been so stopped or reduced, or as if he were not for the time being unemployed in the Education service; or
    (b.) Cease to contribute to the Fund: Provided that a contributor who ceases to contribute to the Fund in pursuance of this paragraph shall, on the expiry of the period for which his salary is stopped or reduced as aforesaid, or on the expiry of the term of unemployment (as the case may be), contribute to the Fund at not less than double the rate at which he would otherwise be obliged to contribute until he has paid the full amount due from him by way of arrears of contributions, and shall in addition pay an amount equal to 5 per centum per annum on all arrears for the time being remaining unpaid.

  2. In the case of the retirement or the death of a contributor the unpaid balance of any moneys owing by him to the Fund, together with the interest (if any) thereon, shall be a first charge on the benefits to which the contributor or those claiming under him may be entitled from the Fund.

Notification of New Contributors.

  1. It shall be the duty of the Secretary to each Education Board to notify to the Secretary to the Board every permanent appointment made by his Board under section 22 (1) of the Act, giving the following particulars in regard to each person so appointed: Full name; date of birth; position to which appointed; date of permanent appointment; name of Education Board by which appointed.

  2. In the case of any person first permanently employed in accordance with the provisions of section 22 (2) of the Act a notification similar to that described in the preceding clause shall be made by the Permanent Head of the Education Department; and also in the case of any person first permanently employed in accordance with the provisions of section 4 of the Public Service Classification and Superannuation Amendment Act, 1912, a similar notification shall be made by the Registrar or Director, as the case may be, of the employing body.

Contributors by Election.

  1. Every qualified person who, under subsection (1) of section 23 of the Act, elects to become a contributor to the Teachers’ Superannuation Fund shall, within six months after the date of his first permanent appointment to the Education service, make application to the Secretary to the Board (or Minister of Education) in the form prescribed by clause 12 hereof. The following statements of the person making the election shall be certified to by the Secretary (or Director) of the employing body, viz.:—
    (a.) The date of appointment;
    (b.) That the person appointed is permanently appointed for not less than twenty hours per week.

  2. The form of election referred to in the last preceding clause shall be—

PURSUANT to section 23 of the Public Service Classification and Superannuation Amendment Act, 1908, I state that I am permanently employed for not less than twenty hours a week in the Education service, having been appointed thereto in the capacity of on the day of , 19 .
