IT is hereby notified for public information that the Lumsden Town Board has, by special order, declared the following weeds to be noxious weeds within the meaning of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1908, in the district under its jurisdiction :—

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Lower Hutt, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF LOWER HUTT.
Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that on the 12th day of April, 1917, a proposal was submitted by the Lower Hutt Borough Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Lower Hutt for raising a special loan of £4,000 for the purpose of the development of its waterworks undertaking, by making certain additions to plant, providing additional wells, extending reticulation of streets, erection of buildings, and for engineering and other contingencies relating thereto; and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For, 103; against, 84.
And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.—Declaration by the Registrar dissolving a Society.
I, ROBERT EDWARD HAYES, Registrar of Incorporated Societies, do hereby declare that, as it has been made to appear to me that the Hokianga Boxing Association is no longer carrying on its operations and has no assets, the aforesaid society is hereby dissolved, in pursuance of section 28 of the Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.

THE Auckland Harbour Board has notified that the beacons on the Motuihi Reef and Brown’s Island Reef, which were washed away during the cyclone in February last (see Notice to Mariners No. 15 of 1917) have been replaced.

RANFURLY BANK OFF EAST CAPE SHOALING.

CAPTAIN BALDWIN, master of the s.s. “Koromiko,” reports, whilst in the vicinity of Ranfurly Bank off East Cape during foggy weather on 23rd March, that he took several casts of the lead, and got 10½ fathoms of water, this being the least depth.
The chart of the “Penguin” survey in 1903–4 gives a least depth of 14 fathoms on the Ranfurly Bank:

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—FOG-SIGNAL, WESTERN TIDE-DEFLECTOR.

THE Auckland Harbour Board has notified that an 11 in. electrically driven bell has been erected on the northern end of the Western Tide-deflector to take the place of the fog-signal which was washed away during the cyclone in February last (see Notice to Mariners No. 12, of 26th February, 1917).
This bell will be ready for use on and after Thursday, 19th April.

TOKOMARU BAY HARBOUR.—WAIMA COVE CONSIDERABLY SILTED UP.

Wellington, N.Z., 16th April, 1917.
THE Tokomaru Harbour Board has notified that owing to recent heavy floods the Waima Cove, Tokomaru Bay, has considerably silted up, especially on east side of Waima Wharf.
All soundings taken since 1st March show about 5 ft. to 6 ft. less water on east side, 2 ft. less water on west side of wharf, and practically no change in soundings off end of wharf and channel leading into wharf.
