Election of Members of Fire Boards by Insurance Companies.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, and the rules made thereunder, it is hereby notified that an election by the insurance companies carrying on business in New Zealand of three members of the undermentioned Fire Boards will be held on Monday, the 21st day of May, 1917, in the manner prescribed by the said Act and rules:—

Notice respecting Proposed Drainage District, Otekaike, County of Waitaki.

Wellington, 14th April, 1917.
IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor, under the Land Drainage Act, 1908, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be constituted a drainage district under Part II of the said Act, by name the Drainage District of Otekaike. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the constitution of the said drainage district which they desire to lodge, within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF PROPOSED DRAINAGE DISTRICT OF OTEKAIKE.
ALL that area in the Otago Land District being part of the Otekaike Settlement, bounded by a line commencing at the westernmost corner of Section 32A of the said settlement; thence along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 31A, 28A, 26A, part of the north-eastern boundary of the said Section 26A, along the south-eastern boundary of Section 8A, across a road and railway, and along the south-eastern boundary of Section 2A and its production to the right bank of the Waitaki River, along the right bank of that river and the left bank of the Otekaike River to the railway-line, along the railway-line to the north-western corner of Section 47A, along the western boundary of that section, the north-western boundary of Section 5, Block XII, Maruwenua Survey District, the north-western boundaries of Sections 9, 7, 3, 5, and 6, Block XI, to Run 17D, along the northern boundary of that run and Run 17 to the Otekaike River, across that river and running westward and north-westward 4500 links, and thence north-easterly 7000 links, to the north-eastern boundary of Run 28D, distant 700 links from the easternmost corner of Run 28C; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundaries of Runs 28D and 28C to the westernmost corner of Section 32A, Otekaike Settlement, the place of commencement.

Notifying Land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1908.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and its amendments, I hereby notify that the undermentioned Crown land, being the land known as the Otamauri Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Acts, is subject to the said Acts as from 1st March, 1916.
SCHEDULE.
OTAMAURI SETTLEMENT.
ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 6,927 acres 0 roods 20 perches, more or less, being Lot 1, D.P. 3204 (part Otamauri and Tunanui Blocks), Blocks I and V, Matapiro Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east generally by Subdivision 1 (D.P. 685), abandoned road and public road; towards the east generally by Sections 1, 3, and 5 (Sherenden Settlement), Blocks I and V, Matapiro Survey District, and by Lot 2 (D.P. 2368); towards the south by Ngaruroro River; towards the south-west generally by Lot 3 (D.P. 2645); towards the north-west generally by Lot 2 (D.P. 3202) and public road; towards the south generally by said Lot 2 (D.P. 3202); towards the south-west by Lot 3 (D.P. 2645); and towards the north-west by Lot 2 (D.P. 648). As the same is delineated in the plan marked L. and S. 21/10, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and its amendments, I hereby notify that the undermentioned Crown land, being the land known as the Makowhai Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Acts, is subject to the said Acts as from 30th November, 1916.
SCHEDULE.
MAKOWHAI SETTLEMENT.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing 1,168 acres 2 roods 9 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 196, 197, 198, 199, 333, 364, and part of 362, Township of Carnarvon, situated in Blocks II and III, Te Kauwau Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west generally by a public road, 4293·3 links, by Makowai Stream and by its crossing, and by Sections Nos. 195, 194, 193, 192, 191, 190, 189, 6515 links; towards the north-east by a public road, 7930 links; towards the south-east generally by Sections Nos. 15, 16, 25, the abutment of a public road 50 links wide, by Section No. 26, 6750 links and 1640·1 links, and by Section No. 35, 5370·7 links; and towards the south-west by Rongotea Road, 14068·8 links.
Also all that area in the Wellington Land District, containing 179 acres 0 roods 11 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 36 and 37, Township of Carnarvon. Bounded towards the north-west by a public road, 3576 links; towards the north-east by Section No. 34, 5136 links; towards the south-east generally by Section No. 1, 3587 links; and towards the south-west by Rongotea Road, 5010 links.
Also all that area in the Wellington Land District, containing 100 acres 1 rood 3 perches, more or less, being parts of Sections Nos. 38, 41, and 42, Township of Carnarvon. Bounded towards the north-west by a public road, 4364·7 links; towards the north-east by Rongotea Road, 2326·1 links; towards the south-west and south-east by other parts of Sections Nos. 38, 41, and 42, 4212 links and 2345·6 links.
Be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same are delineated on a plan marked L. and S. 21/30, deposited at the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Removal of a Name from the Commission of the Peace.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased, in terms of section 7 of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908, to direct the removal of the name of
PETER JOHN BEATON,
of Richmond, from the Commission of the Peace; and it is hereby notified that such name has been removed accordingly, and that such removal will take effect on and from the 19th day of April, 1917.
