HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the New Zealand Staff Corps, Staff, and Territorial Force.

STAFF.

Captain (temp. Major) George Frederick Hutton, D.S.O. (Royal Welsh Fusiliers), relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Instructor, Mounted Rifles, Featherston Camp. Dated 1st April, 1917.

Captain (temp. Major) George Frederick Hutton, D.S.O. (Royal Welsh Fusiliers), is appointed Chief Instructor, Mounted Rifles, Featherston Camp, and retains the temporary rank of Major whilst so employed Dated 1st April, 1917.

Major Ferdinand August Wood, N.Z. Staff Corps, is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force and absorbed into the establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Captain, as from 1st April, 1916, vide New Zealand Gazette No. 83, of 3rd August, 1916. Dated 31st March, 1917.

Major Francis Henry Lampen, N.Z. Staff Corps, is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Captain, as from 11th June, 1913, vide New Zealand Gazette of 19th June, 1913. Dated 31st March, 1917.

Captain Francis Henry Lampen, N.Z. Staff Corps, is granted the temporary rank of Major whilst employed as Camp Adjutant, Trentham Camp. Dated 31st March, 1917.

Lieutenant (temp. Major) Digby Edward Garrow Cardale, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Chief Instructor, Mounted Rifles, Featherston Camp, and the temporary rank of Major whilst so employed, and retains the temporary rank of Captain whilst doing duty in the N.Z. Expeditionary Force Training Camps. Dated 31st March, 1917.

Lieutenant Douglas Bryan, N.Z. Staff Corps, is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Lieutenant, as from 16th August, 1914, vide New Zealand Gazette No. 91, of 27th August, 1914—and retains the temporary rank of Captain whilst holding the appointment of Assistant Military Secretary and Aide-de-Camp to the Commandant, New Zealand Military Forces. Dated 31st March, 1917.

Lieutenant Norman William McDonald Weir, N.Z. Staff Corps, is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Lieutenant, as from 16th August, 1914, vide New Zealand Gazette No. 91, of 27th August, 1914, and retains the temporary rank of Captain whilst employed as Musketry Instructor in the N.Z. Expeditionary Force Training Camps. Dated 31st March, 1917.

Lieutenant Edward Talbot Rowlings, N.Z. Staff Corps, is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Lieutenant, as from 17th November, 1914, vide New Zealand Gazette No. 1, of 7th January, 1917. Dated 31st March, 1917.

Major William McGregor Turnbull, N.Z. Staff Corps, is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Captain, as from 1st April, 1914, vide New Zealand Gazette No. 39, of 16th April, 1914. Dated 31st March, 1917.

Captain William McGregor Turnbull, N.Z. Staff Corps, is granted the temporary rank of Major whilst employed as Assistant Infantry Instructor in the N.Z. Expeditionary Force Training Camps. Dated 31st March, 1917.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 17, of 1st February, 1917, relative to Captain (temp. Major) Francis Edward Ostler, Army Service Corps, being granted the temporary rank of Major whilst holding the appointment of Director of Supplies and Transport, and Inspector of New Zealand Army Service Corps, with effect from 23rd September, 1916, delete the words “and Inspector of New Zealand Army Service Corps.”

4TH (WAIKATO) MOUNTED RIFLES.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Henry Logan Wade is confirmed under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913.
