publicly notified and gazetted, cause the same to be sold
under the conditions therein mentioned:
And whereas it is further provided by section five of the
Public Works Amendment Act, 1909, that in the case of
any land so taken, purchased, or acquired for a Government
work and not required for that purpose the Governor
may, on the recommendation of the Minister, and without
complying with any other requirements of the aforesaid
section thirty, by Proclamation declare such land to be
Crown land subject to the Land Act, 1908, and thereupon
the land may be administered and disposed of under that
Act accordingly:
And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto
was taken for the purposes of roads: And whereas such
roads have been stopped, and it is desirable to declare the
land contained therein to be Crown land:
And whereas a plan has been prepared, and the Minister
has recommended the Governor to declare such land to be
Crown land:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
and authorities conferred upon me by the above-in-part-
recited Acts, and of all other powers in anywise enabling
me in this behalf, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl
of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
do hereby declare the land described in the Schedule hereto
to be Crown land subject to the Land Act, 1908, and that
such land may be administered and disposed of under that
Act accordingly.

Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian

Declaring the Course of the Manaia River to be diverted.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS it is provided by section one hundred and
eighty-three of the Public Works Act, 1908, that
where it is found desirable for the safety or proper mainten-
ance of any public work to protect the banks of, or to alter
or divert, either wholly or partially, and either temporarily
or permanently, any river, stream, or watercourse, the
Governor may, by Proclamation publicly notified, declare that
the banks of such river, stream, or watercourse shall be so
protected, or its course so altered or diverted, and thereupon
the protection of the banks or the alteration or diversion of
such river, stream, or watercourse shall be a public work
within the meaning of the said Act:
And whereas it has been found desirable for the safety and
proper maintenance of portion of the Coromandel to Manaia
Road to divert the course of the Manaia River in, through,
or over the land described in the Schedule hereto:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section
one hundred and eighty-three of the Public Works Act, 1908,
and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling
me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the

course of the Manaia River in, through, or over the land
described in the Schedule hereto shall be so diverted as may
be required for the protection and safety and proper main-
tenance of portion of the Coromandel to Manaia Road.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land affected: 3 roods
0.6 perch.
Portion of Manaia 1B, 2B, D No. 2, Block XIII, Coro-
mandel Survey District (S.O. 19410).
In the Auckland Land District; as the said land is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 41828,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at
Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon
coloured red.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN section eleven of the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William
de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, with the consents of
the owners and mortgagee of the land described in the First
Schedule hereto, and of the Hawke's Bay County Council,
being the local authority in whose district the said land
is situated, proclaim as a road the land in Puketapu Survey
District described in the First Schedule hereto; and also
do hereby, with the like consents as aforesaid, proclaim as
closed the road described in the Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
LAND PROCLAIMED AS A ROAD.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land proclaimed as a road:
2 acres 3 roods 7 perches.
Part of Block 64, western side of harbour.
Coloured on plan: Pink.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
ROAD CLOSED.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of road closed: 2 roods
2.5 perches.
Adjoining Blocks 71 and 64, western side of harbour.
Coloured on plan: Green.
All situated in Block XII, Puketapu Survey District
(Hawke's Bay R.D.).
All in the Hawke's Bay Land District; as the same are
more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D.
41821, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works
at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and
thereon coloured as above mentioned.
