Boundaries of City of Christchurch altered.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this nineteenth day of March, 1917.
Present :
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS, in pursuance of section fourteen of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913, a petition was presented to the Governor praying that part of the Avonside Riding of the County of Heathcote should be excluded from the said county and included in the City of Christchurch :
And whereas a commission, appointed under the said section, held an inquiry, and reported that the area described in the Schedule hereto should be included in the City of Christchurch :
And whereas it is expedient that the said area should be included in the said City of Christchurch :
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that as on and from the twentieth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, the area described in the First Schedule hereto shall be included in the City of Christchurch, and shall form part of the Linwood Ward thereof ; and that the boundaries of the said Linwood Ward shall be those described in the Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
AREA INCLUDED IN CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH.
All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by a line commencing at the confluence of Dudley Creek with the River Avon, thence across that river and along its right bank to the western side of Kerrs Road, along the western side of that road and of New Brighton Road to Woodham or Mile Road, and thence along the present boundary of the City of Christchurch to Dudley Creek, the place of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
LINWOOD WARD.
All that area in the City of Christchurch bounded by a line commencing at the confluence of Dudley Creek with the River Avon, thence across that river and along its right bank to the western side of Kerrs Road, along the western side of that road and of New Brighton Road to Buckley Road, along the north-western side of that road to and across Linwood Avenue, along the south-eastern side of Aldwin’s Road and its production to the south-western side of Ferry Road, and along the south-western side of Ferry Road to Ensor’s Road, thence along the south-eastern side of that road to the Christchurch-Lyttelton Railway Reserve, along the north-eastern side of that reserve to and across Wilson’s Road, along the north-western side of that road to Ferry Road, along the southern side of that road to Fitzgerald Avenue, along the eastern side of that avenue to and across the River Avon, and along the left bank of that river to Dudley Creek, the place of commencement.
