Indents for Materials and Stores from United Kingdom.

Office of the Minister in Charge of Munitions and Supplies,
Wellington, 16th March, 1917.

THE Ministry of Munitions in the United Kingdom having requested that a local authority be set up in New Zealand to examine all orders placed in the United Kingdom for materials and stores required in the Dominion for the purpose of either directly or indirectly maintaining essential industries and the means of transport for same; and it having been further requested that such local authority should comment as to the degree of urgency and importance attaching to each such order from the local point of view:

It is hereby publicly notified that from the 31st March, 1917, all orders to secure supplies of materials and stores required in the Dominion for maintaining the continuity of production and the means of transport for industries of national importance, and orders placed by Government Departments and municipalities, should be made out on special forms obtainable from the Munitions and Supplies Department, Union Steamship Company's Buildings, Wellington, and submitted for consideration and comment to the Minister in Charge of Munitions and Supplies, who is the local authority appointed for New Zealand in pursuance of the above-mentioned request. When duly considered and commented on by the Minister, two copies of each order will be returned to the importer in the Dominion for transmission to his principals or representatives in the United Kingdom. It will be the duty of such principals or representatives, if priority in manufacture or shipment is desired, to apply to the Priority Branch of the Ministry of Munitions, London, and to place before that branch a copy of the order received, with the comments of the Minister in Charge of Munitions and Supplies, Wellington, shown thereon.

It is hereby further notified that the Ministry of Munitions has announced that no application for priority in manufacture for New Zealand orders will be considered by them unless such applications are set out on the forms herein mentioned, bearing the comments of the Minister in Charge of Munitions and Supplies at Wellington.

Special arrangements in regard to cabled orders will be made upon application to the Munitions and Supplies Department.
